District Office is Hiring a Manager II - Maintenance and Facilities Near Kingman, AZ

Summary/Objective

Serve as District liaison between the facilities management company (SSC) and KUSD while overseeing the installation, repair, upkeep and security of KUSD properties including buildings, equipment, and property control. Plan, direct, and/or coordinate a wide variety of construction and remodeling projects by serving as project manager. Work closely with the Arizona School Facilities Oversight Board (SFOB) division liaison in the funding and execution of Building Renewal Grant (BRG) facilities projects.

Essential Functions

  1. Respond to internal and external customers, as it relates to the job, in a prompt, efficient, and friendly manner.
  2. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with city and county government officials, Arizona School Facilities Board, contractors, building administrators, and staff.
  3. Conduct routine and periodic inspections of District facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety, health, and fire regulations.
  4. Develop and execute a dynamic infrastructure improvement plan in collaboration with the Superintendent and Business Services/Finance.
  5. Develop and maintain a property/inventory control tracking system in collaboration with the District General Fixed Assets (GFA) team.
  6. Collaborate with facilities management company in the planning and supervision of corrective and preventative maintenance programs.
  7. Oversee and supervise the planning, scheduling, and execution of new construction and remodeling projects from conceptual development through final construction, ensuring project completion on time and within budget; communicate with stakeholders regularly and as appropriate.
  8. Determine and prepare specifications and submit cost estimates of proposed work activities.
  9. Direct and monitor the progress of construction activities, including the delivery and use of materials, tools, and equipment; and, the quality of construction, worker productivity, and safety.
  10. Participate in the selection of general contractors and trade contractors for projects; oversee contractors’ work.
  11. Assist in the preparation of bids, attend bid openings and bid evaluations, and participate in bid award recommendations in conjunction with Business Services/Finance.
  12. Work with Business Services/Finance in the timely procurement of quality goods, services, materials, and equipment.
  13. Keep informed of the latest trends, developments, and products in the areas of maintenance, repair, and upkeep, and encourage innovation and experimentation as appropriate.
  14. Monitor security systems.
  15. Respond to emergency situations and inclement weather conditions and determine the appropriate course of action.
  16. Manage facilities use requests.
  17. Stay informed of Minimum Adequacy Guidelines.
  18. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all policies, regulations, and rules.
  19. Perform related duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is an exempt, 12-month, full-time position. This position is eligible for medical benefits. The employee will typically work 40 hours per week following the District Office schedule with daily hours occasionally determined by project needs, i.e., working irregular and extended hours to meet deadlines and/or resolve emergent situations. 

Required Education and Experience

Associate’s degree with coursework in business, construction or facility management; two years of supervisory/project management experience; and, three to five years of progressively responsible experience in management and construction including design, specifications, project management, construction management, contract implementation, RFP’s and bidding, or a similar combination of education and experience that would enable the incumbent to perform the essential job functions.

Required Certifications/Licenses

Valid Arizona driver license

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
