Overview

DLH is seeking a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) who will be responsible for the coordination and supervision of an HIV Cure Research Capacity Building effort at the direction of the leadership of the ACTG Clinical Trials Network (Advancing Clinical Therapeutics Globally for HIV and Other Infections). The CRA will ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with project commitments and specific objectives. The CRA will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and administration of tasks associated with the HIV Cure Research Capacity Building project. In addition, the CRA will coordinate with external stakeholders to ensure work moves forward efficiently and effectively. The CRA will provide administrative and technical support, make decisions independently, work independently with limited direction from their supervisor, and propose solutions to challenges as they arise to ensure the success of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities associated with rolling out a training toolkit, including serving as a liaison with clinical research sites, capacity building, and monitoring and supporting the uptake of a toolkit for HIV Cure research capacity building. 
  • Manages two or more task areas and/or projects. 
  • Communicates effectively and continuously with project leadership and others to coordinate and facilitate project business, proactively anticipating and identifying issues and problems, developing and suggesting effective strategies, facilitating resolutions, and instituting preventive/corrective action where appropriate. Maintains, develops and implements a tracking system for any ongoing tasks for the assigned project. 
  • Demonstrates mastery of internal and external procedures, policies, and guidelines; reviews and/or revises existing documents, or drafts new documents as needed. Plays key role in standardization and consistency of support across the project. Serves as an internal and external resource for procedures. 
  • Creates necessary documents for timely distribution to project team and develops, maintains, quality assures, and distributes standard or ad hoc reports, interacting with internal project staff and external clients as necessary to ensure accurate and timely information. 
  • Independently prepares conference call and meeting discussion summaries, and memoranda and communications that are timely, technically accurate, grammatically correct, and concise for leadership review with little guidance from the supervisor. Distributes approved correspondence in a timely manner. 
  • Performs information management including organization of electronic files and posting of documents to project portal. Updates internal and external project websites for membership rosters, and resource documents); and maintains email distribution lists. 
  • Informs the supervisor of complex issues and any related preventive/corrective action and identifies concerns of internal project staff and external clients that may need to be shared with project leadership. Analyzes alternatives and develops solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. 
  • Provides backup and/or supplemental support for other similar task areas and projects as needed.
  • Participates in mentoring and/or training of other staff at the same (or lower) grade level as needed; contributes to training and mentoring programs as needed; and may also provide general supervision for one or two other staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Some international travel may be required (no more than three weeks total over a five-month period of time) 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree - Public health, biomedical research, or related field. Required 

Master’s degree -Public health, biomedical research, or related field. Preferred

2 years Professional experience in a scientific or health-related position required 

2 years Professional experience with clinical research required 

1 year Professional experience with HIV clinical research or programming preferred 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience applying expertise in project management principles and practices. 
  • Demonstrate superior decision-making abilities and problem-solving skills; exhibit competency to contribute constructively to higher-level decisions that may have a consequential effect on the Project 
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to communicate effectively with project team members. 
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort with fast-paced environment. 
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project. 
  • Experience working with SharePoint and Smartsheet. 
  • Works well as part of a team and individually under minimal supervision; communicate effectively with fellow staff members and clients; exhibit a high degree of flexibility, organization, attention to detail, problem solving, and time management. 

Basic Compensation: $80,000 - $87,000 yearly salary

The salary offered within this range will be based on the selected candidates’ skills, experience, education, market data, and internal parity. DLH may offer other rewards that may include performance incentives and program-specific awards. An applicant’s salary history will not be used to determine compensation.
