This posting will close at 500PM on the close date.A Skills Test Will Be Adminstered.An Individual whose qualifications exceed the minimum qualifications for the job may be hired above the minimum of the range based on full years of related work experience as presented on the application.Operate a variety of light mobile equipment in transporting materials or in performing general construction and labor to build, repair and maintain County roads.
A safety sensitive position that performs a variety of construction/maintenance equipment operation, semi-skilled tasks and manual labor as assigned in the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges and drainage structures.
Operates a variety of trucks and equipment that are classified as light equipment (Class B CDL) in accordance with the New Mexico Department of Transportation, including but not limited to; air compressor, jack hammer, pneumatic roller, backhoe, dump truck, asphalt distributor, chip spreader, mower, power broom, front end loader, fork lift, steel wheel roller, etc., exercising all safety regulations and
Completes required daily logs and reports and submits them to the assigned
Hauls materials and transports vehicles and equipment to job sites using various trucks and equipment.
Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance work on assigned equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair to the assigned
Works with and assists crews in resurfacing, oiling and patching, and grading and shaping
Sets forms for concrete head walls, and may work on bridge crew, projects crew, maintenance crew, and sign crew.

May be required to work irregular hours during emergency situations, occasional overtime and may be required to be on-call. Education. High School Diploma or GED required. Experience. Two years’ experience of full time general construction and/or light equipment operations. Education/Experience substitution. In accordance with County Policy. Licenses/Certifications. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B, may require specialized endorsement depending on area of assignment. Other (e.g., post-offer medical exam, polygraph, background check, driver’s license record, etc.). Background check, pre-employment drug and alcohol test, and driving record check. Must comply with the drug and alcohol Clearinghouse requirements in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITIONKnowledge Safety regulations (OSHA); Traffic laws pertinent to operation of equipment performing road construction, repairs and maintenance. Knowing and abiding by all department and county policies and procedures. Skills Perform minor preventative maintenance on assigned equipment; safely use a variety of tools and equipment related to road construction repairs. Skill, acquired through considerable training and experience, to operate and adjust varied equipment for purposes such as performing road construction/maintenance. Abilities Effectively communicate in oral and/or written form. Follow oral and written instructions; read gauges on equipment and be able to operate equipment effectively. Maintain and wear personal protective equipment as necessary.
