DO & CO AG is Hiring a Fleet Mechanic Near Jamaica, NY

Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions using electrical and hydraulic schematics on Hino, Kenworth, International, and Fords
  • Repair, recondition, and maintain equipment components. Strong background in electrical and chillers (Thermoking/Carriers)
  • Complete and evaluate repairs and defects from pre/post trip inspections.
  • Maintain company equipment; to be kept in clean, orderly, and functioning condition.
  • Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI's).
  • Read and understand Manufacturer provided literature.
  • Communicate with associates and management effectively regarding equipment conditions, issues, and recommendations.
  • Routinely required to work under inclement weather conditions.
  • Promote a safe work environment, and comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Spring replacements.
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Servicing and replacing transmission.
  • Transporting and test driving CDL trucks to determine if they properly fixed the repair/maintenance issue.
  • Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues/defects
  • Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhaust
  • Repairing or replacing truck transmission, brakes, engines, and other associated parts
  • Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
  • Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance.
  • Completing preventive maintenance (oil change) and all upfitting components off High loaders
  • Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
  • Background in hydraulics and bodywork
Qualifications:
  • Technician must own and maintain required personal tools, toolbox, and test equipment to perform their daily functions.
  • Possess/maintain a valid state driver’s license and other FAA/Airport required identification/seals or authorizations. CDL license required.
  • Two to Five years related experience and/or training.
  • Professional and detail-oriented thought process
  • Certified in Air Brake adjustment.
  • Able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy items of 75 pounds or more; as well as bending standing, climbing, or walking.
  • Able to work various shifts, including weekends, nights/holidays.
  • Must be able to work safely in an environment containing chemicals, cleaning materials, dust, and noise.
  • Ability to work outside and various weather conditions.
  • Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system, and the mechanism of a diesel engine
  • In depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanism
  • Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
  • Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Keen attention to details
  • Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostics software
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks within the given time to meet strict deadlines.
