Location: Bright Beginnings
Payment Rate: In accordance with the USD 443 Salary Schedule
Evaluation & Benefits: In accordance with the USD 443 Classified Handbook
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Head Start Director/Principal
PURPOSE: To apply professional expertise in the fields of education, child development and special
education and work in cooperation with all other component facilitators in order to provide quality
controls, training, and compliance monitoring in an inclusive, early childhood program
EducationEMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, Social Work or related field.
Experience
  • A minimum of two years’ experience is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills; bilingual literacy in reading, writing, and speaking may be
required in some positions. Fluency in the languages spoken by the families that the program serves
is preferred.
  • Clerical and/or tutorial skills required; basic administrative skills helpful on limited
basis.
  • Computer skills including data entry, report generation, word processing, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong Organizational skills and the ability to work with staff that possesses diverse
educational and experiential backgrounds.
  • Ability to mentor and coach others to increase their career skills.
  • Basic knowledge of educational systems and curriculum, along with Head Start Performance
Standards.
  • Ability to attend to multiple responsibilities within both long- and short-range time
frames.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong human relations skills.
  • Valid Kansas Driver’s License
  • The ability to keep information confidential.
Duties & Responsibiities
  • Maintain frequent telephone and in-person contact with the Bright Beginnings Leadership Team,
Teachers, Home Visitors, and other internal staff members for problem solving, information exchange,
and coordination of efforts.
  • Provide regular written memos, correspondence, reports, and documentation.
  • Plan regular formal presentations for parents, staff, Board of Directors and Policy Council to
provide education and information.
  • Provide professional leadership in organizing, supervising, and evaluating a creative 0-3
program including the planning and delivery of effective staff development and curriculum
offerings.
  • Respond to identified needs within the organization and intervene on behalf of families and
staff.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of home-based policies and procedures.
  • Provide expertise and support in developing high quality childhood environments, materials and
practices.
  • Develop and distribute written materials within a specific subject area, and provide
information, referral, and coordinating efforts to link staff and families with appropriate
community resources.
  • Attend meetings, training and professional development activities as appropriate.
  • Promote collaboration among entire program areas.
  • Help identify training needs for the home-based option and plan with appropriate program staff
and other component specialists the development delivery of training to meet those needs.
  • Supervise home visitors through staffing, observations of home visits and parent activities,
group socializations for parents and children, review of records, and enrollment levels.
  • Provide program orientation and training for new home visitors.
  • Coordinate the resource library for use by parents and home visitors.
  • Participate in the hiring process of home-based personnel.
  • Evaluate home visitors, develop home visitors improvement/training plans, and make
recommendations to home visitors based on evaluation.
  • Oversee onsite childcare center with Bright Beginnings.
  • Work with all Specialists to organize and conduct the annual program review within the Early
Head Start and Home-Based program areas.
  • Assure that children in need of special education services are referred, evaluated and
able
  • To access services in a timely manner in compliance with State and Federal law.
  • Participate in the annual budget planning process.
  • Provide assistance and consultation to assure that pertinent written policies and procedures are
kept current.
  • Attend interagency, organizational and committee meetings as requested.
  • Oversee transition process for the Early Head Start families.
  • Be able to react to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use
hands.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The work environment is in an office setting.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
