Dominion Energy is Hiring a Line worker Near Orange, VA

Job Summary

Our Orange office has an Electric Line Worker Trainee (Transmission) opportunity.

Responsibilities will include a full range of line construction and maintenance work on the electrical transmission systems in urban, suburban, or rural areas.

These positions work on energized and de-energized lines. This position requires you to eventually obtain a valid CDL and overtime availability will be required.

The majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor" which is not limited to but includes the following :

  • Climb poles, (wood, steel, and concrete) and towers up to and in excess of 500 feet
  • Work with and lift tools and material up to 75 lbs. on the ground and aloft
  • Patrol lines on foot and with all terrain vehicles (ATV's) for long distances at a time
  • Drive and / or operate vehicles for long distances
  • Operate heavy equipment to construct and maintain transmission system. (Includes off road track equipment)

Working Conditions Include :

  • Work schedule is 4 x 10 hour days Monday to Thursday from 6 : 00 a.m to 4 : 30 p.m.
  • Work outdoors 95% of a normal day
  • Work in inclement weather as needed or service dictates
  • Work in adverse environments such as swamps, wetlands, coastal sounds, lakes, rivers and mountain
  • Must be available for overtime including extended workdays

Starting Union pay rate of $23.95 per hour. Higher pay rate possible for individuals with 3 years of directly related Transmission experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Preference for individuals who have a minimum of 3 years Electric Transmission work experience;
  • The ability to lift up to 75 lbs. is required;
  • The ability to work off ladders and climb from 300 to 500 feet;
  • Must possess a valid driver's license;
  • Prefer individuals who have graduated from a Line Worker Training Program;
  • Previous construction experience preferred;
  • Forklift operations, aerial lifts, power driven equipment, painting, cutting equipment, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, welding, etc.;
  • Ability to climb transmission poles and towers;
  • The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL within 6 months of employment;
  • Due to weight limits on equipment, weight restriction of 290 pounds applies .
  • Must be able to obtain NERC clearance.
