Summary: We are seeking a Paralegal/Legal Assistant to perform various office duties

Job Title: Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Location: Amherst, NY 14260

Target Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 9AM to 5PM

Target Duration/End Date: December 2024

Description of Roles and Responsibilities:

· Manage the daily flow of FOIL requests and responses, including coordinating the FOIL process from initial receipt of the request, connecting with university subject matter experts, through providing a timely, comprehensive response that follows the FOIL law; collaborate with various constituents across the University including Legal Counsel in response to requests; and complete monthly reporting requirements

Mandatory/Minimum Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:

Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) 2 years of experience as a Paralegal/Must have Paralegal certification

Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:

· 2 years of experience with legal, compliance operations and/or document Management; knowledge of Microsoft Office products; strong written and oral communications; excellent attention to detail and organizational skills; effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects, and to coordinate with various parties to help complete them.

· Experience investigating consumer protection or customer service complaints in a legal or quasi-legal setting

· Experience conducting investigations involving energy, telecommunications, or water service

· Experience using a customer relationship management system

· Applicable knowledge of motions, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures, practices

· Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

· Extensive computer and database expertise; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Relativity (Preferred), Westlaw Case Notebook (Preferred)

· Facility with managing voluminous documents electronically, e.g., in a shared folder or in Microsoft SharePoint

· Trial experience preferred, with added preference for experience in New York State courts

· Candidate(s) with a strong attention to detail, a high level of quality, strong problem-solving skills, dependability and demonstrated priority and time management skills

· Candidates should have a working knowledge of contract terminology, including the ability to recognize contract structures, as well as key contract terms

· Familiarity with procurement contracts is a plus

· Knowledge of government contracts is helpful but not required

· Knowledge of Relativity EDiscovery platform

· Good communication skill is a must

· Working knowledge of office equipment, computer hardware and scanner

· Detail oriented, accurate and thorough
