SUMMARY:

The Pediatric Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for delivery of integrated behavioral health services to the Primary Care Pediatric department as well as Pediatric Urgent Care. This includes providing case management, follow up, and coordination between primary care providers, other departments, and external sources such as schools, psychiatric hospitals, and internal and external collateral contacts involved with families and children. The Clinician will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes primary care providers, case manager, and other administrative staff.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Pediatric Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician will:

  • Provide integrated behavioral health services which include behavioral health intake screenings, triage for walk-in patients, and brief treatment within the primary care medical home.
  • Participate in the primary care pediatric team and other provider teams such as the primary care family medicine team to identify, to offer outreach and to deliver care for those patients in need of psycho-social services.
  • Provide resources and behavioral health / social interventions as needed to restore and preserve the integrity of the child’s family.
  • After evaluation, link children, adolescents, and families to community resources in the areas of home-based supports, employment, education, housing and substance abuse services as indicated, in collaboration with the DotHouse Health medical case management team.
  • Maintain a small caseload of clients in need of brief counseling and case management.
  • Participate in meetings with the Pediatric team, the Family Medicine team, and the Behavioral health department.
  • Participate in clinical supervision.
  • Maintain and complete in a timely manner all appropriate paperwork and documentation in compliance with department policy and procedures.
  • Develop and facilitate psycho-educational or social support groups related to the family system.
  • Develop and build upon existing collaborative relationships with external agencies related to child and family social service needs.
  • Build a strong working collaboration with the pediatric, family medicine, behavioral health and case management staff at DotHouse Health.
  • Participate actively in Quality Improvement projects and DotHouse Health’s Performance Improvement plan.
  • Coordinate referrals for core evaluations and specialist evaluations such as speech and occupational therapy, developmental, behavioral, and psychiatric referrals, and outreach to parents/family members.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the position or as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

Education: Master’s Degree in Social and/or Human Services from an accredited school of social work.

Experience:

  •  Professional, positive attitude, vision and understanding of the integration of behavioral health within the primary care setting. 
  • Sensitivity to the healthcare needs of underserved and vulnerable populations. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary team and between all departments.
  • Experienced clinician with a minimum of two (2) years working in a multicultural community setting.
  • Experience using an electronic health record. EPIC or OCHIN EPIC experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of common computer programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Bilingual in English and Vietnamese, Spanish, Portuguese and/or Cape Verdean Creole highly preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, facilitation skills, and interpersonal skills. Can be flexible in approaches. 
  • Prior experience with working successfully with a wide range of people including patient/consumers, direct service providing staff, physicians and other healthcare providers, and program and executive managers.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.

Certification/Licensure: Massachusetts Licensure (LICSW, LCSW or LMHC) or Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an accredited graduate school of psychology (Ph.D.). If new graduate, must obtain licensure within 6 months of employment.

Software/Hardware: Must be proficient and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
