Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ability to verbally communicate clearly with students, drivers, school officials and parents
  • Pass alcohol and drug screening
  • Pass criminal history background check
Performance Responsibilities
  • Assist the bus driver with pickup and delivery of students
  • Assist students in boarding and exiting the bus
  • Facilitate a feeling of safety and security to transported students
  • Assist students with physical or health limitations while riding the bus
  • Lifts children as required. Operates equipment, including wheelchairs, tie-downs, seat belts, harnesses, mechanical lift and other adaptive equipment as necessary
  • Assist driver in assuring seat belts, harnesses and wheel chair clamps are secured as required
  • Must not allow students to enter or leave the bus while it is in motion
  • Responsible for reasonable behavior of students while bus is in transit
  • Must not allow students to thrust their heads or arms out of open windows
  • Must not leave the bus while students are inside, except in the case of an emergency
  • Must check the bus to ensure no student is left behind on board unattended at the end of the route
  • Assist driver in assuring disciplinary reports are completed properly
  • Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality
  • Must notify the bus driver when you will be absent from riding the bus
  • Must meet the driver at designated location at designated time
  • Must refrain from the use of cell phones or any other electronic device, unless in emergency situations
  • Complete and submit to Transportation all required reports and information
  • Manage students in a positive and effective way
  • Attend assigned workshops and training programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation or designee
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
SALARY RANGE: Twelve-month year. Salary grade 22 (Step 1), in accordance to the DCSS Salary Guide
