Douglas County School System is Hiring an Arena Maintenance Manager Near Douglasville, GA

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Directing and supervising a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of the Arena, especially the set-up and tear-down of facilities and equipment for performances and sporting events.

PAY GRADE: 231 Day- NG Professional/Technical/Supervisory Non-Administrator Salary Schedule - Salary Range: $55,275.00 to $77,322.00. Salary placement will be based on Douglas County Board of Education approved salary schedules and years of verified relevant experience.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 231 Days (12 Months)

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Facility Use

EDUCATION LEVEL: High School Graduate or GED Preferred

EXPERIENCE: Three to five years experience in accounting preferably within a Georgia school system. Must have strong knowledge of fundamentals of governmental accounting and bookkeeping procedures.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: None

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift 70 pounds individually and move objects up to 140 pounds with assistance
  • Be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, feel, talk, hear, crawl, and have depth perception
  • Be able to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather including cold, hot, wet, and high humidity

Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

PROFICIENT SKILLS:

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of the efficient maintenance and operation of performance/sporting event facilities
  • Follow written and oral instructions
  • Attention to detail
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to troubleshoot and make minor repairs in electrical problems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and make minor repairs in plumbing problems
  • Ability to do framing work and hang sheetrock
  • Ability to make minor repairs in floor covering, suspended ceilings, gutters, concrete, door hardware, and/or masonry
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather including cold, hot, wet and high humidity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Handle basic repairs and maintenance of arena building including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, drywall, carpentry, floor, painting, and electrical repair.
  • Supervises and performs preventative maintenance of building and systems including changing filters and lightbulb replacement
  • Supervises maintenance personnel to ensure that maintenance and set-up specifications for each performance or sporting event are correctly executed
  • Supervises the custodial staff to ensure that buildings are kept up to approved standards of cleanliness
  • Recommends to promoters and/or sponsors efficient procedures for set-up, use of stage area and equipment;
  • Responsible for procuring and returning material from/to stock
  • Requisition needed materials not stocked to perform job duties
  • Report immediately safety hazards that affect the welfare of patrons, students, and system employees
  • Maintain records of all work requests
  • Maintain all equipment and tools
  • Perform grounds services including cutting of grass, trimming of shrubs, pressure washing, window washing, and distributing mulch and pine straw as needed in designated areas of the grounds.
  • Keep grounds free from trash and debris.
  • Installing new furniture or equipment.
  • Oversee contractors when outside repairs are being performed.
  • Acts as liaison between production company personnel and Arena management regarding facility requirements and set-up.
  • Maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license
  • Maintain clean and organized work vehicle
  • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
