POSITION PURPOSE: This individual will administer Unix/Linux, Windows, and other systems, supporting mission critical customer and enterprise services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Subject matter expert for other team members for ISP server operations including DHCP / DNS / NMS / CRM / Email and VM infrastructure.
• Administer production services and daemons including Apache, NGINX, MySQL, cPanel, ISC reference implementation of DHCP, and DNS/Bind.
• Administer virtual host environment and hybrid cloud technologies.
• Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for all implemented systems within scope of responsibility.
• Troubleshoot and repair any server or software issues. Assist in troubleshooting other parts of the network infrastructure.
• Develops and implements security systems policies and procedures.
• Responsible for maintaining and testing company backup and data recovery.
• Implementing and configuring specific network solutions to support server requirements, including load-balancing, virtual private networks, firewalls, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Internet Protocol Security (IPSec), and cryptographic solutions.
• Maintain VPN users and remote access protocols and devices.
• Manage multiple tasks/priorities simultaneously.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hour emergencies.
• This job description covers the most crucial key and supplemental duties performed in the position, but does not include other occasional work, which may be similar, related to, or a logical assignment for the position. Other projects will be assigned as need.
QUALIFICATIONS:• An associate’s degree plus 2 years of experience working in an equivalent level position, or 4 years of experience in an equivalent level position.
• Hands on experience in implementing and administrating virtual host environments.
• Knowledge of system security and data backup/recovery.
• Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role.
• Preferred experience with either Python, Ruby, PHP, C/C , BASH, Power Shell, or Java.
• Broad knowledge of computer/telecom operations and BSS/OSS systems.
• Ability to initiate and complete projects with minimal direction and guidance.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge.
• Availability to participate in an on-call rotation and provide after hour response.
• Must maintain a high level of professionalism when dealing with all customers, internal departments, and vendors.
• Able to meet physical demands with reasonable accommodations if necessary.
