Dover Behavioral Health System features individual units for adolescents and adults and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. We are seeking qualified candidates for our Nursing Supervisor - Weekend role. The selected candidate will supervise the daily operations of the nursing department ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compassionate, and therapeutic care.
Schedule:
Friday - Sunday
6:45pm - 7:15am
Position Responsibilities include:
- Under the direction of Nurse Management, supervise the daily operations of an assigned shift ensuring the needs of the patients are being met
- Identify operational problems and takes immediate action to correct the specific problem encountered in a timely manner; Mediate problems involving patient/families/visitors; Handle escalated issues that arise in the hospital
- Maintain appropriate staffing coverage for nursing units ensuring standardized data is used in staffing decisions; Re-allocate staff when necessary for optimal care; May serve as a Charge Nurse based on staffing needs
- Evaluate the performance of nursing staff in accordance with established standards of care and Human Resources policies
- Participate in the implementation and monitoring of the hospital and department policies, procedures, goals and cost containment measures; address any violations in a real-time manner
- Administer medications and medical treatment error-free in accordance with departmental procedures and physician orders
- Ensure nursing interventions and nursing education groups are conducted in accordance with the program and schedule
- Provide timely and thorough documentation of patient behavior, medication administration, treatment planning, and treatment interventions; Ensure documentation reflects professional standards and the treatment plan
- Conduct shift report, makes staff assignments, and assures that both the milieu schedule and behavioral interventions are implemented in accordance with physician orders, treatment recommendations, unit program, and the treatment plan
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team and provides input to the treatment plans
- Conduct admissions, transfers, and discharges ensuring that nursing documentation is completed in a timely manner and according to policies and procedure
- Provide direct supervision of any seclusions and restraints in accordance with age-specific interventions, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- State of Delaware Registered Nurse License
- Prior progressive leadership/supervisory experience
Preferred:
- Experience in a behavioral health setting
