Downstreet is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Homeownership Specialist to coordinate and implement our homeownership counseling programs. This person will help low- and middle-income homebuyers achieve their dream of homeownership in Central Vermont.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage calls and inquiries from customers inquiring into homeownership services.
• Perform client intake with customers; provide one-on-one pre-purchase counseling services to include follow up, client file notes and file closeout.
• Manage homebuyer education workshops, both in person and through eHome America.
• Provide foreclosure counseling as needed, meet with clients, assist clients in completing loss mitigation documents, and conduct outreach to loan servicer as needed.
• Process Shared Equity Applications for eligibility and manage new purchases and resales of our current Shared Equity portfolio from initial application through purchase closing.
• Provide ongoing support to Shared Equity homeowners to include monthly and annual communication.
• Obtain and maintain certifications as required to include but not limited to HUD Certification and NeighborWorks NCHEC Certifications.
• Build and maintain accurate, confidential and complete client files including electronic and paper files.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education

• 2 years of experience in mortgage lending, financial counseling/coaching or an equivalent combination of education, employment, and life experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn relevant software
• Highly organized with a strong ability to manage priorities and deadlines and ability to manage confidential information
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, active listening skill and problem-solving abilities
• Commitment to equity and inclusion and social and economic justice
• Valid Vermont Driver’s License and personal vehicle

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer

Compensation

The annual salary for this position is $48,000 - $55,000 per year.
