JOB PURPOSE
The Director of Supply Chain Engineering shall conduct data analysis to design new concepts for the supply chains of customers. Solutions will help the customer to increase efficiency and reduce costs, while increasing share of DP World services with that customer.
In this role the employee, shall possess analytical skills and strong business acumen. Problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential. Deep experience in logistics and supply chain processes is a must have for this position.
The position is essential to developing, marketing, and selling end-to-end solutions in pursuit of the corporate strategy. The Director of Supply Chain Engineering has broad responsibilities that vary depending on the organization’s structure and needs. These include:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Supply Chain Engineering vision and strategy
•The SCE vision distills the product strategy and serves as the north star for any end to end solution. The employee is responsible for setting and owning the product vision strategy for network engineering.
•The employee supports his colleagues in creating new business opportunities and sales leads.
•Is responsible to define working and end-to-end supply chain engineering standards and content for the company’s tool box to be used for new solution developments.
Interfacing with customers
•The employee is often connecting with customers. As such, he/she is responsible for communicating the voice of the customer to his/her colleagues in the company’s business unit specialists.
•The employee is often best equipped to engage with customers and translate their needs into end-to-end solutions.
Exchange of know how
•The employee is the connector between different business units and its SMEs.
•Especially for bridging and connecting solutions from logistics to ports terminals and the data analysis he is the go to partner.
•The employee is able to train business units SMEs in the tool box content and to support in preparing customer meetings about network analysis.
Cross-functional collaboration
•The employee of product management interfaces with other directors of cross-functional teams, such as engineering, sales, and marketing.
•As the key owner and driver of the supply chain analysis, the Director is responsible for aligning with other key stakeholders in the company. This requires working with the heads of other departments to drive the end-to-end strategy forward.
Executive communication
•The Director works directly with top customer supply chain leaders to communicate and drive solutions and improvements, metrics, and roadmaps. The Director is able to work with C-suite to align the end-to-end and supply chain solutions with the larger company visions.
•Additionally, he/she must communicate the results of analytics with external stakeholders and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
QUALIFICATIONS
•Degree or equivalent in engineering, business administration, SC Management or transport/logistics
•Proven track record of having consistently achieved supply chain solutions.
EXPERIENCE
•Minimum >10 years’ experience within the Supply Chain, transport, logistics or freight forwarding industry (or similar service industry) with focus on the assigned Industry Vertical
•Experience with consultative selling with top supply chain leaders at customers
Definite asset:
•Experience and affinity with supply chain and logistics services globally
•Exposure to and working knowledge of all facets of contractual requirements

•Strong communication skills – The Director is an exceptional listener. He/She communicates clearly is writing exceptionally well and speaks eloquently. He/she can explain just about anything to anyone. The Director is comfortable on the phone or to groups of people – at any level. He/She is showing respect to others.
•Problem solving – The Director enjoys solving problems. Getting to the root cause and loves taking on difficult challenges and finding creative, innovative solutions. Doesn’t get flustered easily. If he/she doesn’t know the answer, he/she is able to dig until he/she finds it.
•Detail oriented - Paying strong attention to the details as it is one of the core qualities. As far as the director is concerned, anything worth doing is worth doing right, every single time. He/she stay’s focussed and nothing falls through the cracks on his/her watch.
•Exceptional critical thinking skills; The Director can identify gaps in logic and underlying causes of issues; He/she thinks on his/her feet. The Director likes learning new things, and being able to learn quickly.
•Strong collaborator – He/she can work independently because being able to self-manage, with limited direction and guidance, but you also enjoy collaborating across dynamic and multi-cultural teams and are personable, helpful and incredibly organised

•IT skills – The Director highly proficient in the full Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Visio; ; relational databases and ERP systems (e.g. SAP); SCM analyse software
•Flexibility to travel - Ready to travel between 30 - 50% of the time.
