Location: Houston/Hybrid/RemoteClimate change is the defining issue of our time. Do you want to make a difference and meaningfully contribute to the challenge of getting the world to net zero? As the Engineering Director, you’ll report to the VP, Project Management and you’ll be working closely with the Permit Director, Project Management Director and Execution team on technical aspects of development of multiple sites opportunities.
You’ll manage the Technical Authority for new development projects, developing engineering capability both inside and outside of the organization and team. You’ll be establishing trust and working relationships with key team members, creating and maintaining clear expectations.
About The RoleWithin this role, your accountabilities shall be, but not limited to
  • Work closely with VP, Project Management to ensure awareness of future developments in the marketplace and explore options to capitalize on them.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Strategy, Regulatory, Compliance and Internal/External Communications teams.
  • Technical Authority assessing a range of different innovative solutions and choosing the greatest probability of success.
  • Develop engineering solutions and ensure compliance to external standards via managed risk and through system development and compliance.
  • Responsible for ensuring controls and statutory compliance both engineering and financial; setting, monitoring and managing budgets.
  • Manages the ideas, concepts and solutions to help create the direction for all proposals and the regulatory environment they will operate under.
  • Engineer new business opportunities across the group which are critical to Drax achieving its purpose of enabling a zero-carbon low-cost energy future.
  • Support and contribute to the identification and development of projects which are subject to change in line with changes in the global economy, political climate, climate change targets and general technology progression.
About YouYou’ll have a Graduate degree in engineering (preferred), technical subject or recognized native professional to the energy sector.
You’ll demonstrate your previous management experience within large projects, taking them from ideas and concepts through to execution.
With your experience, you’ll have the ability to apply commercial focus and judgement on value of an opportunity and accurately estimate costs.
You’ll be a trusted professional who is an innovative and creative thinker naturally curious with the ability to create and develop innovative engineering ideas and concepts which start from a blank sheet of paper.
You’ll demonstrate your resilience and your ability to adapt to ever changing directions, be able to keep an open mind and be a strong collaborator and relationship builder!
You’ll show your experience of working with large Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and other internal and external key stakeholders.
Leadership will be key! You’ll demonstrate your well-developed leadership and influencing skills to navigate innovation through multiple complex, uncertain and uncharted issues as well as improving best practices.
