dsstpublicschools is Hiring an Affective Needs Center Special Education Teacher (2024-2025 School Year) Near Denver, CO

POSITION: Affective Needs Center Special Education Teacher GRADE LEVEL: High school LOCATION: DSST: Cole Campus SALARY: $62,000-$80,000 based on years of experience up to 10 years. We also offer a relocation stipend for anyone joining us from 75 miles or more from Denver! STATUS: Full time, benefits eligible, exempt, in-person position (Denver, CO) START: First day of new staff training at the end of July. You can view the current school year calendar here. KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Our Affective Needs Center Special Education Teachers are leaders who play an integral role in ensuring that students with disabilities are welcomed, known, and challenged to achieve their most ambitious post-secondary path. Develop and incorporate a variety of curriculum to include literacy, math, language skills, behavioral skills, social-emotional regulation, adaptive and vocational skills in a variety of settings including whole group, small group, and 1:1 Support students with academic and behavioral skills by using trauma informed interventions and practices to target their social and emotional needs. Serve as case manager to a portfolio of students; completing tasks such as writing data driven IEPs, developing goals, monitoring progress, delivering targeted academic & behavioral interventions, and celebrating success with each student’s team of teachers and family along the way Work collaboratively with teachers and the school community to develop an inclusive model that strives to incorporate research based interventions in a center based classroom, the general education classroom and the surrounding community. Additional duties as assigned such as supporting student recruitment, running a small group advisory class, lunch duty, and after school tutoring IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS Proven track record of results in previous roles Proven commitment to and experience with serving students of color, students with disabilities, and/or multilingual students Experience in teaching and implementing positive behavior supports to facilitate learning in the areas of academic, communication, executive functioning, behavioral, and social-emotional regulation.
