Structural Engineering Department Manager Summary:The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the Engineering and Tech Teams while ensuring projects stay on a timeline, coordinate directly with clients and company leadership, mentor engineering staff, and ensure excellence throughout the company. A Day in the Life of a Structural Engineering Department Manager:
Manage and report on the delivery of quality services per company philosophy and protocols in accordance with project timelines, budgets, and promised deliverables.
Approve and assist with Engineering and Tech schedules and performance
Assist with the development of partnerships with external companies
Work closely with Project Managers & liaise with external contractors
Oversee process changes and standards
Coach and mentor the engineering team
Prepare reports for leadership

Structural Engineering Department Manager Qualifications:
Required: B.S. in Civil Engineering or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program with a structural focus preferred
Required: Passed PE Exam
Preferred: M.S. in Civil Engineering with a structural focus
10 years experience in Structural engineering
Leading teams, 5 years required
Demonstrated ability in the design of concrete, steel, masonry, wood structures, and foundations
In-depth knowledge of structural design codes and standards including but not limited to IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE7
Application of engineering principles including critical thinking, analysis, and innovative techniques
Ability to work independently with little direction and the ability to work as part of a team
Able to prioritize work according to deadlines and organizational initiatives to produce assigned outcomes
Strong verbal and written communication skills
