Duke University is Hiring a CONTROLS TECHNICIAN Near Durham, NC

Occupational SummaryAssist in the calibration, troubleshooting, monitoring, analysis, maintenance and repair of a variety of electric and electronic control equipment to achieve better air quality systems controls in Medical Center facilities.
Work Performed
  • Inspect, test, and troubleshoot a variety of electric and electronic equipment including such hardware as sensors, control panels, input/output panels, and relay panels as related to HVAC control systems.
  • Calibrate a variety of control and metering devices located in Medical Center facilities used in the control and monitoring of HVAC systems.
  • Carry out approved maintenance and repair duties in accordance with instructions and maintenance schedules on all main control panels and control systems to achieve better operation and energy efficiency.
  • Assist building maintenance personnel in the survey of areas necessary to update control graphics.
  • Provide data necessary to the design and development of system modifications and to facilitate the preparation and maintenance of accurate control diagrams for building systems.
  • Assist in the accumulation of data necessary to improve operation of the HVAC systems for effective energy management; assist personnel on the troubleshooting of system communication issues.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications At This LevelEducation/Training: Work requires an educational background normally acquired through a high school education plus formal technical training in electricity or electronics.
Experience: Work requires a working knowledge of electronic control systems normally acquired through 3 years of experience in the operation, inspection, testing and repair of electronic control systems. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Minimum QualificationsEducation
Work requires an educational background normally acquired through a high school education plus formal technical training in electricity or electronics.
ExperienceWork requires a working knowledge of electronic control systems normally OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE acquired through 3 years of experience in the operation, inspection, testing and repair of electronic control systems. Experience with Siemens Apogee Building Control System and Honeywell HC900 system a plus.
