Duke Recreation and Physical Education is seeking individuals to become a part of our Recreation Center Guest Services Attendant and Facility Monitor staff. We are seeking employees who can commit to between 12-19.9 hours per week.

Qualified candidates should meet the following requirements:
·High School Diploma or GED equivalency
·Must be able to use a computer
·At least 1 full year customer service experience or working with the public
·Certification in First-Aid, CPR/AED or willingness to obtain within 60 days
·Must be able to attend and participate in off hour training sessions (usually about 2 per semester)
·Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations
· Ability to use independent judgment when needed
·Strong problem‐solving skills
·Must be able to accommodate a variable work schedule that may include e arly mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays.
·Must be able to work 2 shifts per week.
Job Responsibilities:
Guest Services Attendant
·Serve as the first link to the recreation centers, is responsible for gre eting members and guests upon arrival as well as acknowledge their depar ture.
·Check all members, guests and visitors in and out of the facilities.
·Monitor flow of traffic into and out of the facility.
·Ensure Duke ID cards and guest passes are current and valid to access the facilities.
·Answer any questions or concerns users have. If you are unable to answer question, refer them to the appropriate Recreation & Physical Education staff personnel or department.
·Follow procedures to register guests and visitors.
·Supervise electronic waivers for all guests and visitors.
·Arrange and maintain the Lost & Found cabinet in an orderly and organized manner at all times.
·Confirm the on-line daily schedule for indoor/out door reservations.
·Complete all forms as necessary.
· Check out loan equipment and ensure equipment is returned and does not leave the facility.
· Promote a safe and clean facility that is welcoming to all.
·Perform other duties as assigned.

Facility Monitor
·Fill in for the front desk and weight room staff when needed.
·Consistently move around the facility to check all doors, alarms, lockerrooms, and bathrooms.
·Address the cleanliness of the cardio areas and machines.
· Track and enforce day locker policies (includin glocker rooms).
·Enforce all facility policies and procedures.
· Assist the front desk staff during busy check-in times.
·Follow all opening and closing procedures.
· Carry out security measures.
·Respond to all building emergencies (Accidents/Injuries, Inclement Weather, etc.)
· Execute the set‐up of activity areas for variety of internal & external groups when needed.
·Provide support for special events, as needed.
·Ensure outstanding customer service.
·Work cooperatively with other area of the department to achieve established goals.
·Promote a safe, clean, functional facility that is welcoming to all.
·Perform other work as assigned.

Education
Work requires the ability to provide recreational assistance generally equivalent to a partial high school education.
