Job Description
The Area Manager is responsible for providing managerial oversight and operation of a segment or portion of a segment of business. This position is also responsible for personnel, program, coordination of services and supports and the maintenance of high quality service and supports to vendors, persons served and other stake holders. Our Area Manager will have oversight of our Extensive Support Needs (ESN) sites throughout Valparaiso, South Bend, and Lafayette.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Supervise the managers and other staff through hiring, orientation, training, and ongoing monitoring of performance. Provide feedback through informal channels and formal channels such as evaluations and progressive disciplinary action.
  • Indirectly supervise program staff through the program directors/coordinators, supplying them with observations, feedback, guidance and direction related to their staff.
  • Assume a leadership role in the development and implementation of organizational philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Assure that services are in compliance with licensure and regulation standards.
  • Coordinate staff training in licensing, and county standards, state standards, fire code and Medicaid regulations.
  • Maintain responsibility for the management/supervision of all personnel in designated area of responsibility.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a comprehensive training program for personnel.
  • Participate in survey/review processes by responding to surveyors' questions and requests, attending exit meeting(s) and assisting in formulation of survey responses and plan(s) of correction for each home reviewed.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Director & State Director, be responsible for the budgetary/fiscal components of the programs.
  • Assume a leadership role in the development and implementation of organizational philosophy, policies and procedures.
  • Promote a positive and professional attitude to others.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, certification and regulatory standards for all services provided under the assigned case load.
  • Ensure the establishment and maintenance of systems, programs and processes which satisfy licensing, fire code and other applicable standards, as designated.
  • Assure the ongoing presence of choices in the individuals' lives.
  • Provide oversight to process of ISP development, including participation in Team meetings.
  • Provide oversight and active monitoring of behavioral programming, to ensure the use of least restrictive/intrusive interventions, the preservation of dignity and individual rights and the utilization of sound and effective behavioral support strategies.
  • Coordinate channels of communication between "Team" members to ensure consistent and effective service delivery to individual served.
  • Actively monitor overall staff-individual served interactions, individual served involvement in the community, home atmosphere, level of person-centered planning, and individuals exercising choice in their lives
  • Responsible for the overall appearance, maintenance and safety of the homes.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a comprehensive training program for personnel.
  • Provide input and recommendations to the State Director on philosophy, policy and procedures that are implemented and maintained.
  • Participate in State or National Committees as assigned.
Hours:
  • Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to be on call when needed. This includes weekends and odd hours
Qualifications
What Makes You A Great Fit:
  • Bachelor's degree in human services or related field
  • 5 years prior experience providing support and services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disabilities
  • 5 years supervisory experience
  • Candidate must possess sound decision-making and communication skills, be responsible, mature, and flexible; and have prior management/supervisory experience.
