At DuCAP, we believe that community engagement builds "social capital" - social ties, networks, and support - which is associated with better community health and well-being. Everyone - parents, residents, youth, businesses, educators, health care institutions, law enforcement - has a role in creating healthier and safer communities for youth. Increasing the focus on supporting youth driven activities will help improve a community's health, quality of life, and prosperity and increase the likelihood that youth lead productive lives. Designing an approach to the development of such activities, events and/or programs are to be youth inspired and adult supported.

The “Community Engagement Director” is responsible for organizing and supporting local groups of volunteers into both youth driven groups and adult supporting groups. The focus and intention of these “groups” is to organize and/or support activities for youth between the ages of 11-24 within Villa Park and Bensenville, IL.

The positions primary focus is to engage local adult and youth volunteers in the building and directing of inspired youth opportunities. As needed, DuCAP will continually support and invest in those community efforts that need additional professional assistance.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Have organized at least one volunteer adult and one youth “DuCAP Leadership Group” per assigned community (see DLG guidelines)
  • As needed - effectively recruit, screen, place and retain volunteers within your assigned communities
  • Responsible for managing volunteer inquiries and directing any DLG support requests to our available resources and/or staff in a timely and responsive manner
  • As much as possible, network with other organizations, businesses, individuals and other influential support systems within assigned communities to establish relations as well as to promote volunteerism, sponsorships, partnerships and other supportive needs
  • Creatively inspire and support your assigned DLGs to define what they will be building and/or directing
  • At times, assist with DuCAP designed special events and/or seasonal programming
  • Provide guidance and support to volunteers with trainings, tools and other resources
  • When assigned, manage Program Assistants with agency and or community driven activities
  • As needed - assist your assigned DLG communities with developing, coordinating and/or implementing meaningful activities, events or seasonal programs that embrace and fulfill the needs, as well as varied interests, of youth 11-24

· As needed - provide technical assistance to your DLGs and volunteers regarding marketing, promotions and communication needs

  • Manage efforts in building your assigned communities’ reputation via surveys, testimonies, social media, local events and speaking engagements
  • Demonstrate to our funders and partners its effectiveness through successful outcomes measurements
  • As needed - assist your local DLGs with fundraising plans and budgeting
  • As needed, create and/or delegate the responsibilities for social media posts, fliers and other marketing materials
  • Overall, responsible for meeting and/or exceeding a pre-determined number of youth (11-24) served per grant cycle

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Follow Professional Communication Standards
  • Manage time wisely and effectively with the understanding that there will be assigned office time
  • Be positive in sharing successful ideas, outcomes, tactics and strategies with other DuCAP team members
  • Complete & submit reports/paperwork by assigned deadlines
  • Assist with DuCAP Central team efforts: annual events, public engagements, fundraising, etc.
