Role: Medical Assistant & Receptionist

Location: Providence, RI.

Client: Department of Labor and Training: Arrigan Center

Duration: Through February 2025

Medical Assistant- Primary role will function as medical receptionist but will also perform work in scheduling patients. Will play a key role in representing practice within the community.

Duties and responsibilities for this role typically include:

- Greeting patients professionally both in person and on the phone

- Quickly answering or properly referring questions and issues

- Notifying providers of patient arrivals

- Screening patients for COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses

- Comforting patients by anticipating anxieties and effectively answering questions

- Ensuring availability of treatment information by retrieving and updating patient records

- Maintaining office inventory and equipment by anticipating supply needs and expediting supply orders

- Must be fully vaccinated with proof of vaccination.

- Bilingual preferred but not required. Spanish/English

- To perform telephone and in person medical history screening, enter the information in the computer/EHR.

- To perform clerical functions: schedule and manage appointments, schedule inpatient and outpatient admissions, organize patient’s medical record, file medical records, computer data entry, and operation of copy machines/fax machines.

- Daily and ad hoc coverage of reception desk

- Understanding of orthopedic medical terms

- Ability to interact with physician offices, insurance companies and injured workers (patients)

- High level ability to multitask under stressful situations

Requirements

- High School Diploma

- Certification as a medical assistant

- Reception desk experience

- Patient Scheduling experience

- Effective communicator

- Microsoft Office Skills and typing skills

- Knowledge of Rhode Island Workers' Compensation system a plus

- Computer/EHR experience

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $24.20 per hour

Experience:

• Reception desk: 3 years (Preferred)
• Patient Scheduling: 5 years (Preferred)
• Rhode Island Workers' Compensation system: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:
