PROGRAM OVERVIEW: Provide Family advocacy support services in support of the US Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM) G9, Army Community Service (ACS), Family Advocacy Program (FAP). Provide family needs assessments, parent education training, child development

information, victim advocacy response, and crisis intervention, among other supportive services

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate will provide comprehensive assistance and support to victims of domestic abuse.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide support to victims of domestic abuse, to include providing crisis intervention, assessing situations for imminent danger, assisting in securing medical treatment, delivering information on legal rights and proceedings, and informing victim about advocacy and outreach services
• Demonstrate understanding, sensitivity, and empathy for victims and non-abusing parent/guardian when handling PSB-CY cases
• Effectively communicate with victims and develop trusting helping relationships
• Intervene in crisis situations exercising careful judgment, applying flexibility and innovative problem-solving, and taking appropriate precautions to protect the welfare of those to whom they provide services
• Educate personnel on the installation regarding the most effective responses and resources for domestic abuse intimate partner violence and PSB-CY on behalf of victims and at-risk Family members

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least two years of experience providing comprehensive assistance and support to victims of domestic abuse
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, marriage, Family and child counseling, counseling or behavioral science, education, community health or public health
