Assistant Controller/Controller

$20B dollar multi strategy investment manager located in the tri state area. They are looking for strong fund accountants ranging from senior associate all the to controller. The firm has is in a heavy growth spurt right now, coming off its best year to date. They have a hybrid work schedule which fosters a collaborative environment while still giving work/life flexibility. Compensation ranges from $150-300k all in depending on level of experience.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Deliver accurate and timely work product within specified deliverable timelines, and in coordination with senior leadership and other team members
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of accounting, specifically with respect to alternative investment funds, with a focus on Hedge Funds/Private Equity/Real Assets
• Ability to calculate Profit and Loss manually
• Review all transaction documentation and supporting files, and understand the features of the investment transactions, accruals, etc.
• Prepare work paper files for accuracy and completeness, including capital activity, investment activity, income and expense accruals, valuation adjustments, waterfall calculations etc.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• Years of experience in accounting, with a focus on alternative investments funds experience a plus
• CPA designation a plus but not required
• Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and other comprehensive basis of accounting, with an emphasis on investment partnerships. Experience preparing and reviewing general ledgers, work papers and financial statements
• Deadline oriented with ability to complete assigned tasks independently.
