SUMMARY: Assist students in resolving nonacademic issues and student conduct; promote student achievement to promote educational opportunities to help students achieve their fullest potential in regard to nonacademic programs, services and offerings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Oversees student attendance and discipline; including records management; assistance with student supervision; counseling students; truancy; promotion requirements; conferring with parents, students and staff on matters of student attendance, discipline and welfare.
  • Provides assistance with campus control and security; participates in the supervision of extracurricular activities.
  • Assists in supervision and evaluation of classified personnel as assigned by principal.
  • Assists in the interpretation of school and district programs, policies and procedures to students, parents, staff, and community; makes recommendations for revisions of policies and rules affecting the student’s and safety.
  • Communicates the expectancy level for student conduct to staff members and pupils; ensures investigation of reported misbehaviors and provides due process for each individual pupil; makes recommendations for suspension, according to District procedures.
  • Reviews and recommends school achievement expectency levels for all instructional programs and activities; makes recommendations for supplemental services for pupils and staff members to increase in all areas of achievement.
  • Assits with instructional leadership and guidance of the school’s academic programs.
  • Assists the principal in supervising the operation of the buildings, grounds and other school property for the protection of those facilities and the safety of those who use them.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in educational, educational leadership or related field required.
  • Three (3) years teaching experience required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience at a school or district level.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Arizona Teaching certification required.
  • Valid Arizona Administrator certification preferred.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

  • Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards (based on assignment).
  • Providing customer service.
  • Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications.
  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. 

Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment; may require some work in the field with moderate exposure to travel.
