Join our team at EAC Network as a Bilingual Nutrition Program Assistant in Hempstead, NY!
Job OverviewAs the Bilingual Nutrition Program Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Community Nutrition Education program by coordinating nutrition health education initiatives for Spanish-speaking HIV clients. This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM, offering outstanding benefits like medical/dental/401K and a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Community Nutrition Educator to organize nutrition health education sessions aimed at enhancing the medical care and treatment retention of Spanish-speaking HIV clients.
  • Maintain accurate client records and track their participation in program activities, including nutrition health education sessions.
  • Facilitate referrals for community services, such as other food programs and entitlements, to support clients' holistic well-being.
  • Conduct off-site intakes and schedule screening appointments with the Community Nutrition Educator.
  • Support program outreach efforts and foster partnerships with medical providers and Registered Dietitians to ensure clients remain engaged in their care.
  • Regularly communicate with Spanish-speaking clients, documenting their progress towards achieving personalized nutritional goals.
  • Take charge of the distribution of weekly pantry bags to clients.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in health or human services (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • At least 1 year of experience working with HIV/AIDS or other chronic illnesses.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish, with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with community services for Persons Living with HIV/AIDS in Nassau County and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Skilled in utilizing computer applications like spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, calendars, emails, and databases for work-related tasks.
