EAGLE COUNTY GOVERNMENT is Hiring a Senior Assistant County Attorney Near Eagle, CO

Classification Salary Range: $125,537 to $188,306.
Hiring Salary Range: $125,537 to $156,921. An offer above the hiring range may be considered based on qualifications.
This is a legal position that assists supervising attorneys with various tasks, primarily focusedonland use, including reviewof land use applications, and the drafting of development agreements and deed restrictions; development ofworkforce housing; complex acquisition and construction projects; and development of code and zoning regulations.The position also involves providing legal advice to the county government, researching legal issues, drafting legal documents, and representing the county in hearings and lawsuits.

Hours and Location: This is a full-time position. The work schedule is Monday - Friday and work hours are determined by need but generally fall between 8:00am - 5:00 pm. Flexible work arrangements may be available upon a demonstrated ability to meet job expectations.
The Attorney's Office is adjacent to the Eagle County Government Building, located at 500 Broadway, Eagle, CO 81631. This position will be required to attend in-person hearings, work sessions and meetings, including attendance at other Eagle County locations as necessary. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is exempt (not eligible for overtime).

Here are some of the key responsibilities:
  • Advising county officials on legal matters
  • Researching and writing legal documents like contracts, briefs, and memorandums
  • Representing the county in court, hearings, and meetings
  • Reviewing and revising complex legal documents
  • Advising on real estate transactions and major developments
  • Providing legal guidance on land use issues for planning and engineering departments
  • Drafting amendments to county codes and regulations
  • Supporting county boards and commissions on land-use matters
  • Investigating claims and lawsuits involving the county
  • Keeping up-to-date on legal developments
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
Required Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification, or Registration:
  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Must be licensed to practice law by the State of Colorado and in good standing.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years in the practice of law, with general land use and real estate experience.
Preferred:
  • Background in local government with a focus on complex transactional matters; development of workforce housing projects; land use and planning, including review of land use applications and the drafting and review of associated development agreements and deed restrictions; attendance at public hearings of the planning commission and Board of County Commissioners; and development of code and regulations.
