GENERAL / DEFINITION:
The Park Ranger is responsible for patrolling the park to assist members and guests with any questions or needs and to maintain a safe environment. Required to answer questions of customers pertaining to park rules and regulations, as well as enforcing them. May be required to be the primary response team in case of emergency. Must complete and file all ranger log books and checklists. Will assist with registration duties, such as customer arrivals and departures at night. Must work well with coworkers. Treat people with respect, work ethically, with integrity, accept responsibility for own actions and uphold organization vision, values and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Patrol the park to assist members and check for park violations
2. Monitor lake for fishing violations
a. Fishing permits, more than two poles, over fish limit, chumming (using of illegal bait such as corn)
3. Administer First Aid and CPR where and when needed
4. Make sure all buildings are locked and secure after hours
a. Specifically lock up bathrooms and pools
b. Replace burned out light bulbs in street lamps, as needed
c. Put out illegal or unattended campfires with water
5. Will complete the following
a. Morning Ranger Checklist and Log
b. Late Swing/Graveyard Facility Checklist
c. Ranger Log and Checklist
d. Patrol Log
e. Safety checklist
f. Complete work orders such as propane, checks, cable checks, light replacements, etc.
6. Maintain ranger vehicles (day shift only)
a. Oil, water, brake fluid
b. Notify maintenance of any other problems
7. Maintain member violation files
8. Assist in fishing permit inventory (graveyard shift only)
9. Customer service
a. Answer phone
b. Answer member and guest questions (i.e. fishing questions, park rules and regulations, etc.)
c. Resolve member complaints, answer questions and provide directions in a professional and courteous manner.
10. Dispense propane
11. Provide assistance to emergency services such as fire, police, fish and game, forestry, law enforcement.
12. Assist in special events with organization, ID verification, member compliance with guidelines.
13. Follow ABC training, safe food handling training/guidelines and safe propane dispensing guidelines.
14. Perform maintenance work and minor repair such as light bulbs, cable checks, propane, hook ups.
15. May provide work assistance to employees by driving to clinic in the event of an injury.
16. May be required to help in training of other staff, new hires or ranger duties and responsibilities.
17. Must write reports of incidents or incidents with members, guests, etc.
18. May be asked to help or participate in investigation of incidents or matters involving park members or guests, such as accidents, injuries, altercations, etc.
19. Issue citations/warnings to members or guests for non-adherence to park rules, i.e., speeding violations, curfew violations, fishing permit violations, no helmet.
