JOB DESCRIPTION: Established Civil Engineering and Surveying firm is seeking Engineering-In-Training candidates with experience in the design of bridges, retaining walls, and miscellaneous structures for transportation infrastructure projects. Familiarity with TxDOT and NTTA practice is a bonus. The primary duties is to produce engineering drawings including layouts, details, sketches, site plans, and graphic representations of engineering designs using computer aided design software on transportation projects. Assignment will range from routine to complex and require application of standardized drawing techniques. Duties may include geometric design/analysis, development or bar details and bar schedules., review of shop drawings and estimates quantity computations. Projects will include preparing plans for new structures, and for modification, extension, and/or rehabilitation of existing structures. Key Responsibilities include: This position will provide support to our structural engineers. Typical projects include preparation of construction documents for retaining walls, bridges, culverts, and miscellaneous structures for streets, roadways, highways, tollways and railroads, Clients that we serve range from local/state/federal agencies, tollway authorities, transit agencies, and various commercial clients. • Using prescribed methods, perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment • Prepare drawings and schematic designs based on project requirements • Study drawings, plans, specifications and other documents relating to the projects • Working to meet schedule milestone on various projects in close coordination with supervisor. (Including design and production of PS&E). • Uphold engineering ethics and professional standards of conduct . JOB QUALIFICATIONS: • Familiarity with bridge design software including Microstation, Geopak, OpenRoads, OpenBridge, BGS, PGSUPER, PSTRS14, CAP18, spcolumn, experience with LPILE, PYWALL, Midas Civil is a plus • Detail oriented and capable of independent problem solving • Strong sense of time management and ability to prioritize tasks • Ability to manage tasks on concurrent assignments in a fast-paced environment • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members • Strong oral and written communication skills requires to work in a collaborative environment • Ability to perform with varying level of supervision according to project needs and skills • Proficient with MS Office software including Excel, Word, Outlook • Professional conduct and appearance
