Early Connections Childcare Ministry is Hiring a Daycare Director Near Elizabethtown, KY

Early Connections Childcare is seeking a Childcare Director. Eligible candidates must be a baptized believer of Jesus Christ. We are a faith based childcare center that is fully operated as a ministry of Valley Creek Baptist Church. Applicants must be able to develop or implement faith based curriculum and ensure that teachers are teaching biblical lessons in addition to academic curriculum. Candidates who are selected for interviews should be prepared to share their testimony.

All Candidates must have the following

  • 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED, or qualifying documentation from a educational entity; i.e., A Kentucky Home School Certification; transcript that shows date of graduation; a document verifying graduation from another country; a letter from a Board of Education verifying completion. A Commonwealth Child Care Credential does not meet the requirements for qualifying a director
  • TB Skin Test or Health Professional Statement free from TB
  • Completed Nation Background Check Program (NBCP) through KARES

All candidates must have one of the following options

  • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Development
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Development
  • Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a field other than Early Childhood Education and Development, including a degree in a field other than Early Childhood Education and Development, including a degree in pastoral care and counseling. Also must have 12 hours of child development training (may use TRIS record as proof) OR three years of verifiable full time paid experience working directly with children in a school based program following Dept. of Education guidelines, an early childhood development program such as Head Start or a licensed or certified childcare program (certified home provider). Also, please note that this requires “verifiable” full time paid experience; i.e. remind the applicant that she must have written letters from past employers stating that she worked in a full time position directly with children from start date to last date of employment.
  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and Development
  • Associate Degree in a field other than Early Childhood Education and Development Also, must have 12 hours of child development training. Also, must have two years of verifiable full-time paid experience working directly with children in a school based program following Dept. of Education guidelines, an early childhood development program such as Head Start or a licensed or certified child care program (Family Child Care Providers)
  • A director’s credential in Early Childhood Development And, must have one year of verifiable full time paid experience working directly with children in a school based program following Dept. of Education guidelines, an early childhood development program such as Head Start or a licensed or certified child care program (certified home provider)
  • A child development associate (CDA) Also. must have one year of verifiable paid experience working directly with children in a school based program following Dept. of Education guidelines, an early childhood development program such as Head Start or a licensed or certified child care program (certified home provider)
  • A high school diploma And, must have three years of verifiable full-time paid experience working directly with children in a school based program following Dept. of Education guidelines, an early childhood development program such as Head Start or a licensed or certified child care program (certified home provider). Also, please note that this requires “verifiable” full time paid experience; i.e., written letters from past employers stating full time employment in a position working directly with children including start date and last date of employment.

Job Summary

  • The center director should be familiar with and implement the Kentucky Child Care Regulations, ensuring compliance. The director is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and comfort for all children. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing program policies and assuring each child is protected from abuse and neglect.

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain staff-to-child ratios in all classrooms.
  • Interview/hire staff and manage staff according to each individual job description.
  • Maintain program budget including collecting payments/fees, approving expenses, distributing funds, facilitating payroll, tracking expenses and planning fundraising events.
  • Maintain all records for five years.
  • Manage, conduct, and document staff meetings.
  • Perform general office duties daily including reading mail and email, making and receiving phone calls, filing documents, managing database systems, and overseeing all office activities.
  • Supervise all daily and weekly tasks including reviewing staff and children's schedules, observing classroom management, and overseeing curriculum implementation.
  • Provide support for daily and weekly activities including approving time off requests, leading recruitment efforts and managing program calendars.
  • Greet parents and visitors, answer questions, arrange meetings, lead tours, and perform other daily customer service tasks.
  • Plan and implement family engagement activities.
  • Oversee supply and food ordering to ensure compliance with state licensing regulations.
  • Ensure all required paperwork for children, staff, and licensing are obtained and organized in a timely manner in accordance with state licensing regulations (including required emergency plans and drills.)
  • Any other duties assigned.

Job Skills & Qualifications

  • Required: Associate Degree, CDA, Director's Credential or minimum three years relevant work experience
  • Leadership experience and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to problem solve and make decisions independently General computer literacy
  • Knowledge in Kentucky Licensing regulations
