Position Title: Family Child Care Home Education Network Specialist
Department: Administration
Reports to: FCCHEN Manager
Supervises: N/A

DEFINITION:

Under the direction of the FCCHEN Manager the Family Child Care Home Education Network Specialist will provide specialized support and coordination within a network of family child care homes. Establish and maintain professional relationships with assigned FCCHEN Educators, conduct onsite monitoring, and provide quality feedback to increase and support professionalism in the FCCHEN environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

General Responsibilities

  • Obtain, read, and understand the program philosophy, mission statement, personnel handbook, job descriptions, and other job-related materials.
  • Maintain appropriate records for case reporting and Educator tracking that ensures accurate, complete, and current files.
  • Compile statistical information on case load as needed for program reporting and evaluation.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance by staying abreast of licensing regulations and educational standards, ensuring that family child care Educators within the network adhere to all necessary requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation of quality assurance measures, through conducting monthly visits, assessments, and evaluations to ensure educational standards are met and exceeded within the network.
  • Maintain innovation and research by staying informed about the latest trends and research in early childhood education, integrating innovative practices into the network to continually improve the quality of education provided.
  • Collaborate with Educators to adapt and enhance educational curriculum, ensuring it meets the diverse needs and developmental stages of children in family child care homes.
  • Assist in the distribution of educational resources, including materials, tools, and information, to support family child care Educators in delivering high-quality education.
  • Assist in addressing and resolving challenges faced by family child care Educators, offering solutions and support to create a positive and effective learning environment.
  • Provide individualized support through one-on-one guidance with family child care Educators, addressing specific educational needs and challenges within their unique settings.
  • Assist with specialized training and professional development programs for family child care Educators, focusing on enhancing their skills in early childhood education.
  • Provide training in and promote the use of technology with Educators.
  • Assist in fostering a sense of community among family child care Educators by supporting the FCCHEN manager in organizing networking events, workshops, and forums to encourage collaboration and the sharing of best practices.
  • Document questions, complaints, and concerns received, as needed.
  • Assist in opening/closing the administrative office as needed.
  • Assist in answering all incoming phone calls and taking messages as needed.
  • Provide general support asked of all staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Staff Relations

  • Assist with breaks and other agency needs as requested.
  • Support all staff members in their duties.
  • Maintain open and respectful communication to children, staff, and parents.
  • Serve on a team of other administrative staff, teachers, assistants, and volunteers.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members, accepts supervision, and helps promote a positive atmosphere.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employed staff.

Educator Relations

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding Educators.
  • Work flexible hours to meet the needs of Educators may include some weekends and evening hours.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in meeting unexpected circumstances.

Family Relations

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding families enrolled in the child care home.

NOTE: Essential Job Functions may be both on and off-site locations, days and/or evenings and/or weekends as well as overnight.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Have a valid driver license with a clean driving record.
  • Must have a minimum of twelve ECE/CD including core units.
  • Must have three infant/toddler development units or complete within one year of employment.
  • One year or more experience working with children in licensed Family Child Care Home or Licensed Child Care Center.
  • Knowledge of Title 22 regulations.
  • Current pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
  • In good health and free of active Tuberculosis.
  • Must provide completed Health Screening Report, Immunizations and Department of Justice clearance prior to employment.
  • Bilingual ability in English/Spanish.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Ability to use a computer, complete data entry, and use basic office equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties effectively as described above.
  • Experience working with a diverse and multicultural population.
  • The skills and willingness to deal with sensitive family situations in a non-threatening and professional manner.
  • Ability to provide support and serve as a resource for improving quality care in Child Care Home setting.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, assume postures in low levels to allow physical/visual contact with children and engage in physical activity with children.
  • Ability to see and hear.
  • Ability to communicate well with adults and children of diverse academic, ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds, including people with disabilities.
  • Ability to serve as a model to educators, parents, and community observers.
  • Ability to attend training, conferences, and college courses, as related to job.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct classroom and outside activities.
  • Ability to be sensitive to all children in a multilingual home child care setting while modeling appropriate curriculum.
  • Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standards.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of one year’s experience supervising staff.
  • DRDP and FCCER’s experience
  • Teacher level permit or higher from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
  • Demonstrated successful experience working with state-funded programs and special needs children.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the EDS Philosophy Statement and the core values of mutual respect, collaboration and service orientation, multiculturalism and diversity, community service and institutional excellence.
