East Carolina University is Hiring an Asst Dir Corporate/Foundation Relations Near Greenville, NC

The Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations will conduct significant discovery work to build a portfolio that will include corporations and foundations capable of making major investments in East Carolina University. He/she will be a fundraising professional who knows and understands the culture and purpose of development/advancement activities as they apply to the university environment, OR a communications professional who has the skill sets needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.
The Assistant Director will have the ability to learn quickly across widely varied academic fields and meet and interact effectively and substantively with faculty and academic leadership. He/she will play a hands-on role in identifying prospective corporate and foundation donors through targeted research and review of published funder guidelines; reviewing and editing complex proposals, letters, and briefings; compiling supporting documentation to comply with proposal submission requirements and deadlines; and maintaining an accurate grants calendar, including the submission, and tracking of proposals, subsequent awards and reports on behalf of ECU’s colleges and units.
Minimum Education/Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in appropriate field.
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in either corporate and foundation fundraising – preferably higher education – OR, the communications field (corporate/news media/public relations) at a comparably complex organization.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to develop well-crafted, clear and concise, and professional correspondence; attention to detail is essential.
  • Strong computer and database literacy.
  • Ability to initiate and collaborate with others, at all levels of an organization.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong organizational skills and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals, with a high level of accountability
