ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

HIGH SCHOOL

Qualifications:

• Master's degree, emphasis in educational administration/leadership preferred
• Valid State of Michigan Administrative Certificate (ES) (or eligibility to obtain)
• Valid State of Michigan Teaching Certificate
• Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience or previous administrative experience
• Understanding of International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (preferred)
• Knowledge of instructional best practices that meet the developmental and individualized needs of all students
• Strong knowledge and understanding of secondary school curriculum, assessment, and instructional practices
• Successful experience with building-level leadership and/or committees
• Knowledge and understanding of the laws and evidence-based practices relating to Special Education, Section 504, Restorative Practices, MTSS, Social Emotional Learning, and Conflict Resolution
• Ability to perform duties with leadership, knowledge, and implementation of district policies and Strategic Plan
• Ability to provide supervision and leadership for after-school athletic and/or co-curricular activities
• Willingness and commitment to equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices
• Ability to provide instructional leadership and foster a positive and innovative teaching and learning environment to encourage students to perform at their highest level
• Ability to develop, facilitate, evaluate, and lead professional learning and growth with students and staff
• Ability to design opportunities to empower students, staff, and parents to be integrally involved in all aspects of the school's culture and climate
• Ability to assist with the responsibility of the operation and management of the high school building and program under the direction, guidance, and supervision of the High School Principal
• Effective leadership skills in working and collaborating with staff, students, and parents
• Excellent verbal, listening, and writing communication skills

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience

Location: East Grand Rapids High School

Start Date: As mutually agreed

Contract: 210-220 contract days
