East Hill Christian School is a not-for-profit, private, accredited Christian school serving students in the historic East Hill community in Pensacola, Florida. The Business Manager is responsible for a coordinated school effort to convey East Hill Christian School’s unique value to the marketplace and attract, enroll, and retain a mission-aligned, diverse, student community. EHCS has recently experienced significant growth in the student population.

Job summary

The Business Manager is responsible for maintaining the operational efficiency of the institution. This role involves managing the school's budget, overseeing purchasing processes, and handling all aspects of Human Resources. Additionally, the Business Manager ensures compliance with state scholarship programs and manages the school's operational needs. Reporting directly to the Head of School, the Business Manager works collaboratively with senior leadership, faculty, and staff to support the school's mission and goals. This position requires a strong commitment to Christian values, excellent financial acumen, and effective communication skills to balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational management.

Required Professional Qualities

  • A minimum of an earned bachelor’s degree in business or a related field

Essential Job Functions

Budget Management:

  • Manage, and monitor the school's annual budget
  • Work closely with the school’s financial management partners to ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts receivable, and accounts payable

Purchasing Oversight:

  • Oversee the procurement of goods and services
  • Ensure cost-effective purchasing practices and vendor management
  • Approve and track expenditures to maintain budgetary control

Human Resources Management:

  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of staff
  • Manage employee benefits, payroll, and performance evaluations
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and school policies

Operational Management:

  • Work closely with the Facilities Director to ensure the efficient maintenance and operations of school facilities.
  • Manage transportation and other logistical needs
  • Ensure a safe and efficient working and learning environment

State Scholarship Compliance:

  • Ensure the school meets all state scholarship program requirements
  • Maintain accurate records and submit necessary reports for compliance
  • Liaise with state agencies to stay updated on regulatory changes

Strategic Planning:

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations for strategic initiatives
  • Participate in long-term planning to support the school's mission and goals
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on resource allocation and financial planning

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the Head of School, senior leadership, faculty, and staff
  • Foster a collaborative environment to support the school's overall mission

Faith Integration:

  • Integrate Christian values and principles into all aspects of financial and operational management
  • Support the spiritual and academic mission of the school through effective stewardship of resources.
