Title: HR Specialist/Manager
The HR Specialist/Manager is responsible for coordinating all administrative activities related to an organization’s personnel. The role will carry out responsibilities including but not limited to the following areas: staffing (hiring, onboarding, and offboarding), employee relations, benefits, training, performance management, safety, and compliance. This role carries out administrative work involving the human resources functions and maintains related records; while also developing and improving policies, programs, and procedures to improve the effectiveness of HR and Administration. The position will report directly to the VP of Talent & Administration, also working closely with the company’s Marketing & Office Manager. The level of the role (between Specialist and Manager) will depend on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Managing existing employee benefits administration, as well as researching and making recommendations around new benefits or shifts in programs
- Assist in the talent acquisition and recruitment processes, including but not limited to the drafting and posting of job descriptions, coordinating and facilitating the interview process, initial screening of applicants, checking references, and communication with applicants
- Managing the onboarding and offboarding of employees, including new employee documentation, coordinating new employee orientation, and conducting exit interviews
- Managing the development and implementation of HR policies that serve to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
- Undertaking tasks around performance management, including but not limited to organizing and helping to facilitate employee performance reviews (new hire & annual), and the individual goal (OKR) process
- Addressing personnel matters as necessary, including creating and facilitating performance improvement plans; fielding, investigating, and addressing HR-related complaints and concerns, fielding and facilitating leave requests, etc.
- Maintaining employee files and records in electronic and paper form
- Ensuring compliance with local and national regulations and applicable employment laws, and updating policies and procedures when necessary
- Managing and updating HR Tools as needed (including BambooHR, Lattice, Employee Handbook, etc)
- Acting as a liaison with the parent company regarding HR requirements and related matters
- Managing the Summer Associate & Internship Program, including recruiting, hiring, and coordinating the overall programs
- Supporting day-to-day office administration as needed, in coordination with the Marketing & Office Manager and the VP of Talent & Administration
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned

- Understanding of general HR policies and procedures, as well as best practices
- Strong knowledge of employment/labor laws
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage a diverse workload
- Strong organizational and task management skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Ability to effectively engage with all team members, as well as with outside parties
- Proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience using the HR platforms BambooHR and Lattice, a plus

Education & Experience:
- 4-year university degree, BS or BA or equivalent, relevant professional experience
- 4 years of relevant experience preferred, candidates with less relevant experience still considered
- Additional HR training and certification is a plus
Travel & Time Commitment:
- Limited travel related to company retreats, possibly industry conferences and deliveries
- This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Standard office hours are from 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM EST. The demands of projects may require work outside of these times.
