Pay Range: $22 to $23.00 DOE

Shift: Monday through Friday

Position Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Location: CCP Salem office-Work Source offices in Marion/Yamhill Counties

As the Career/Job coach at Easterseals Oregon, you will contribute to our mission by helping minorities with disabilities reach their full career potential. Assist individuals with transitioning into the workforce by providing career planning, coaching and support. You play an integral part in helping them discover their talents, abilities and interests. This position is Monday-Friday with occasional weekends.

Summary:

The Career/Job coach will serve as WorkSource ambassadors, bridging connections among job seekers, employers, and educational entities. They will distribute employment information, facilitate employer interactions, and support job seekers comprehensively. The Career/Job Coach will perform job development services for participants that speak English as a second language. In our supported employment program, we assist minorities by creating, developing, and securing jobs in the community through building relationships with local employers through face-to-face contact, telephone and networking. We maintain awareness of the job market, employer’s needs and expectations, and attend/participate in job fairs, resource fairs and other events.

This position is responsible for developing partnerships with employers and community businesses and will serve as WorkSource ambassador, bridging connections among job seekers, employers, and educational entities for placing participants into employment. The Career/Job Coach spends the majority of their time out of the office recruiting participants, explaining the benefits of joining WorkSource programs, meeting with employers/organizations, and making presentations to individuals and groups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on community outreach events.
  • Circulate employment information about WorkSource Oregon to communities unaware of these resources.
  • Provide basic career coaching services to participants, such as coaching on job interviews, resume and cover letter writing, and job search techniques, as well as making job seekers aware of post-second training opportunities and certification programs, and assisting with employment-related paperwork.
  • Promote WorkSource’s products and services including Work Ready, Staff assistance Job placements, iMatchSkills, Quality info, WorkSource Individual Training Account programs, On-the-Job Training programs, Coursera, virtual workshops, and MyWorkSource.
  • Assist participants in completing enrollment formats.
  • Match job seeking participants and employers using a variety of professional job placement skills.
  • Develop employment opportunities to match individual participant needs.
  • Input and maintain accurate records of participant progress in job search, case management and employment database using I-Trac and file all mandated paperwork in eBridge, MS Word, Access and other software.
  • Work with Easterseals instructors to ensure coordinated and streamlined services.
  • Provide ongoing individual support and encouragement to participants.
  • Develop and implement effective marketing strategies aimed at recruiting employers
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with businesses and develop employment opportunities with a variety of employers.
  • Make presentations to employers and other community organizations about WorkSource services, that result in placement opportunities for participants.
  • Assist in completing required reports in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate vocational classes, workshops and events as needed.
  • Translate documents/flyers from English to Spanish or vice versa.
  • Attend appropriate community professional meetings.
  • Drive participants to job interviews or job opportunities.
  • Provide translation/interpretation services for employers, partners and participants.
  • Assist participants in identifying employment barriers and connecting barriers to WorkSource services and opportunities.
  • Help participants access resources needed such as housing, food, medical, clothing and other resources.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to make formal business presentations to groups and individuals (English and/or Spanish).
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork.
  • Strong time management, follow through and organization skills.
  • Ability to successfully interact and communicate clearly with a wide variety of people including employers, partnering agencies and co-workers (English and/or Spanish).
  • Must be creative, innovative, and be a progressive problem solver.
  • Demonstrated ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability to display a non-judgmental attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with coworkers and participants with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, political affiliations, cultural backgrounds, life-styles and sexual orientations and treat each individual with respect and dignity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues related to individuals with multiple barriers to employment.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Experience with knowledge of WorkSource products and services including Work Ready, Staff assistance Job placements, iMatchSkills, Quality info, WorkSource Individual Training Account programs, On-the-Job Training programs, Coursera, virtual workshops, and MyWorkSource.
  • Demonstrated understanding of employer needs and labor market trends.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective job development methods and employer relationships.
  • Demonstrated public speaking skills and the ability to develop written promotional materials and business correspondence.

Working Conditions:

  • Work with peers, subordinates, and supervisor in a collaborative manner.
  • Work in an environment with frequent interruptions due to phone calls, and staff or participant needs.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and work under timelines.
  • Travel between WorkSource offices in Marion and Yamhill counties is required and varies month to month. Reliable transportation is essential, and travel is reimbursed at the federal mileage rate.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Frequent repetitive motion for hands and arms.
  • Daily office work environment may contain dust, heat, cold, noise.

Minimum qualifications:

Prefer bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a social services field; or two or more year’s related experience in the employment field working with minorities or individuals with disabilities, or.

  • Must embrace the mission, vision, and core values of Easterseals Oregon.
  • Have excellent computer skills to accomplish duties.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Availability to work some evenings and some weekends as required.
  • Must possess a current driver’s license and pass a DMV background check.

OUR FACILITIES

Our administrative office is in Multnomah County, and we have 6 other office locations in the state of Oregon. This position will be located at the Salem office with occasional visits to service locations to meet with peers and participants as needed.
