Responsible for teaching safety courses and assessing learning outcomes in area of instruction. Assignments may include alternative delivery methods, evening courses, and multiple sites. Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and service. Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the community college.

Work location: in-person, mainly teaching in Davenport, IA, with occasional travel to Muscatine or Clinton. Part-time

Required Qualifications

Associate's Degree in discipline preferred or a combination of education, training, and at least 6,000 hours of relevant tested experience in the field(s) of instruction in which the instructor teaches classes.

Preferred Qualifications

MUST be knowledgeable in safety, Fall protection, OSHA, PPE, and Forklift operation

Physical Demands

* May have prolonged periods standing.

* Must also be able to access and navigate industry work space for training and showing simulations.

* Lifting light to medium weight objects, must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.

Salary $47.25 per course hour Typical Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching, In-person safety courses, such as one or more of the following: forklift operation, confined spaces, fall protection, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and knowledge of OSHA regulations.

Ability to utilize a variety of industrial tools and safety equipment

Teach courses in accordance with outcomes identified in the established course development model

Collaborate in the development and revision of curriculum as needed

Meet promptly with scheduled classes

Assure that student outcomes are achieved in each course

Evaluate and record student performance and achievement on a regular basis and provide regular student feedback
