Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Department of Physics, Geosciences and Astronomy at Eastern Kentucky University invites applicants for full time position of Administrative Coordinator.

This position provides high level administrative and professional support to the Chair, faculty, and students of the Department through coordination, communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and office management.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing routine clerical and administrative functions, providing information to visitors, maintaining the department budget, and using EKU digital platforms such as Banner, SLATE, Jaggaer, and CourseLeaf. The Administrative Coordinator will also be responsible for hiring and managing student workers and supporting other STEM College units with scheduling and logistical assistance for internal and external groups using CSTEM facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from a regionally (SACS, Middle States, North Central, etc.) accredited or internationally recognized institution.

Experience: One year of responsible clerical, customer service, and secretarial and/or administrative support is required.

* 40% - Manage the operational activities of the program, set priorities; establish and assign priorities; ensure schedules are maintained and deadlines are met; develop processes and procedures for program. - (Essential)

* 30% - Communicate with internal and external customers and management to exchange information, resolve issues or concerns, and coordinate activities. - (Essential)

* 20% - Analyze and summarize research data for budgets and/or reports. - (Essential)

* 5% - Assist in implementing and monitoring strategic plan for department. - (Essential)

* 5% - Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned - (Essential)
