Summary/Objective

The Bellevue Food Pantry is seeking a customer service-focused, dependable, hardworking, responsible, self-driven, compassionate, part-time Operations Support Specialist to join our team. Responsibilities may include answering phones, scheduling food donation pick-ups or drop offs, assisting with unloading and sorting food, stocking shelves, breaking down boxes, helping at special pantry events, giving guidance to volunteers, answering the door, and providing a positive daily pantry experience for clients. This position requires excellent customer service skills, ability to work with and respect diverse populations, and a strong attention to detail.

Essential Functions: The Operations Support Specialist is responsible for carrying out the following types of activities:

Answer the phones and respond to client questions in a professional, efficient, and consistent manner.

  • Return client calls and requests in a timely manner.
  • Assist with coordinating donation pick-ups and/or drop-offs.
  • Stock shelves, pack pantry items for clients, and help as needed transferring items to client’s vehicles in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner.
  • Work with volunteers to maintain food pantry operations.
  • Help build pantry bags as needed.
  • Load and unload of donation items, sort for quality of items, expiration dates, and place donations on racks and shelves according to internal procedures.
  • Assist with coordination of the Food Bank for the Heartland orders and deliveries.
  • In collaboration with the Pantry Specialist, deliver pantry items to guests who are homebound or may be experiencing transportation barriers.
  • Assist with community events as needed (mobile pantries, food drives, etc.). This may include evening and/or weekend work.
  • Clean the pantry and keep it free from trash, dirt, excess cardboard, and other debris.
  • Communicate proficiently and effectively with staff, manager, volunteers, clients, and pantry guests.

Desired Qualifications & Expertise

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive ENCAP/ pantry vehicles under ENCAP’s insurance.
  • Experience working with food preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Effectively work in a team environment.

Environment and/or Physical Factors

The work environment is varied between office and outdoor in all types of weather. Must be able to lift, push, or pull between 10 - 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position, 25 hours a week. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
