Eastern Shipbuilding Group is Hiring an OPC QA Supervisor Near Panama, FL

Job Description

The Quality Assurance Inspector supervisor reports to and works under the supervision of the Divisional QA Manager. The QA Inspector Supervisor will be required to interact and interface with the company’s project construction team members craft superintendents, foreman, supervisors and ship managers, subcontractors and customer representatives. The QA inspector supervisor will be responsible for verification of specifications, drawings, and shipbuilding standards to ensure compliance with specifications and material requirements. The QA inspector supervisor will be responsible for ensuring all inspection notifications and correspondence is promptly distributed to appropriate crafts, departments, ship managers, subcontractors and customer representatives.

The QA inspector supervisor will responsible for directing QA inspector personnel in the performance of ship hull fabrication module inspections, module erection inspections, tank close out inspections, tank leak testing, piping fabrication and installation inspections, and piping system testing inspections, machinery placement and installation inspections. Conduct daily surveillances to ensure compliance to contract requirements. Monitor shipyard personnel and subcontractor in-process work.

The QA inspector supervisor will perform, and document in-process and final inspections as required by contract inspection plans. Verify check points identified in the specifications when they are presented by the sub-contractor or shipyard to ensure all completed work meets specification requirements. The QA inspector supervisor will be responsible for efficient distribution of inspection reporting results to all appropriate crafts, departments, ship managers, subcontractors and customer representatives.

Job RequirementsREQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION:

  • Ability to mentor and lead highly skilled QA inspector staff in the performance of their duties.
  • Handle physically demanding environments (rain, wind, heat, heights, confined spaces, etc.).
  • Responsible for ensuring that company Quality and Performance Goals are aggressively pursued.
  • Ability to document and report deficient work and make recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Must be able to read/interpret ship construction drawings for crafts.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & Outlook).
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to board ships, enter confined spaces with limited visibility and have the ability to climb up and down stairs and/or ladders of varying heights to complete the job or inspections.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors under all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work from 6am to 3:30pm M-F and overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Must be physically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment without restriction.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to interact with a variety of people in a variety of settings. Ensure that inter-departmental relations are maintained.
  • Perform similar, incidental and other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION:

  • Previous experience in Quality Control and/or Quality Assurance.
  • Have 3 years of Maritime/Ship construction experience and/or shipbuilding related industry.
  • Understanding of commercial shipbuilding specifications and commercial shipbuilding standard Items.
  • Understanding and experience in welding and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Level II experience with PT/MT/UT to conduct visual inspections of completed welds to assure they meet the acceptance criteria.
