Eaton’s CTO Corporate Technology Office division is currently seeking a Senior Engineering Specialist - DER/EV Management. The position is located in Golden Colorado and offers sponsorship & relocation assistance.

This position will lead research and development in novel energy management, control and optimization methods to address modern power grid issues with ever growing DERs, EVs and smart loads. The Senior Engineering Specialist will report to Global Technology Manager.
The successful candidate will lead technology projects and other activities, including strategic business unit discussions/alignment, fostering academic and utility partner collaboration, and representing Eaton in public occasions such as conferences and working groups.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $128250.0 - $188100.0 a year.

The primary role of this position is to lead number of R&D efforts on cutting edge technologies for Distributed Energy Resource (DER) and electric vehicle (EV) management, control and optimization at the distribution level, grid edge and behind-the-meters. In This Role You Will
- Lead complex global technology realization programs/projects utilizing our internal project execution processes, including design reviews and technical reviews.
- Lead strategies for technology roadmaps for specific applications that are linked to and supportive of the overall ERL and business strategies.
- Serve as a subject matter expert externally and internally. This includes leadership/active participation in external industry and technical groups, mentoring junior level staff and consulting internal business and engineering partners.
- Create innovative power distribution and energy management solutions. Implement state-of-the-art concepts and solutions into quick prototypes, feasibility studies, specifications, and eventually into larger systems and product components.
- Investigate, integrate, and validate new product designs abiding by time-based milestones. Engage multiple business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, National labs, universities, and utility customers.
- Innovate, invent, and challenge state-of-art design and process by securing critical intellectual properties through patents and disclosures.
- PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
- 10 years of progressive experience in researching, developing and designing technology solutions. Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality technological innovations.
- Demonstrated strong experience in one or more of the following areas: DER management algorithm and software development, DERMS, communication and data exchange protocols for power systems, microgrids, and integration and control of DER and/or EV for grid services.
- Must be able to relocate to Golden Colorado. Relocation assistance will be provided.
- Sponsorship will be provided.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple research projects on DER and/or EV.
- Experience in implementing power systems communication protocols (e.g. Modbus/DNP3/IEC 61850/CAN/Ethernet/MQTT).
- Experience with OpenFMB or similar power systems data framework will be a plus.
- Experience in real-time grid management (e.g. SCADA/EMS/ADMS/DERMS) will be a plus.
- Experience in advanced data analytics and machine/reinforcement learning to address the emerging R&D challenges in modern power systems will be a plus.
- Collaborative orientation. The ability to succeed in a highly team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented individual.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in dealing with management, employees, customers, and suppliers. Senior management level communication and presentation skills.
- Business acumen with proven record of formulating value proposition. Able to identify strong business alignment with the government funding opportunity.
- Active leadership in a technical or industry event/group.
