Under direct supervision, this position packs/unpacks equipment, removes packing materials, and packs/wraps equipment. The position is security-sensitive because the incumbent will handle valuable inventory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Loads / unloads materials from/to delivery trucks.
• Moves materials to and from storage or work sites to designated areas, using a hand truck, electric dolly, or other device.
• Follows instructions to understand material moving orders.
• Ensures all waste is handled according to company guidelines.
• Checks boxes to ensure material is properly and safely packed.
• May scan material manually while loading/unloading and notify the supervisor immediately if there is a discrepancy.
• Packs the material appropriately before loading for delivery.
• Installs bracing, padding, or strapping to loaded materials in the delivery vehicle to ensure safe and secure delivery of material.
• Maintains the work area in a neat, clean, and orderly condition.
• Counts the number of packages loaded to ensure they tally with work orders.
• May act as a spotter for the delivery driver to help ensure the vehicle does not collide with low-hanging branches, low bridges, roof overhangs, other vehicles, etc.
• Documents product shipment by recording units shipped.
• May be trained to wire mobile laptop/Chromebook/media carts or complete Chromebook enrollment.
• Other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Preferred but not required: High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
• Entry level: No prior experience necessary.
• Preferred: Previous experience as a Material Handler.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good organization skills. Good time management skills. Safety oriented. Good listening skills. Deadline oriented. Demonstrates a sense of urgency to complete tasks timely.
• Strength, stamina, and lifting skills needed to routinely pick up and move product up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to use a box cutter safely; operate a tape dispenser; operate a hand truck; and operate pallet strapping equipment.
This is physical work that requires prolonged standing and sitting, and some bending and stooping; manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard; normal range of hearing and vision; ability to speak clearly and effectively; ability to write legibly and effectively.
Must be able to answer questions in a professional and friendly manner. Requires little public contact and good interpersonal skills.
Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: (a) can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes, and (b) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor and use it to strengthen future performance.
Works in a typical warehouse setting. The temperature of the work area may be affected by outside temperatures. Industrial lighting is provided. Exposed to warehouse elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils. Work hours are generally between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM. The amount of work hours per work week will vary according to shipments and business needs. The work week is from Thursday through Wednesday. May be required to work some overtime to meet deadlines. Required to enter work hours daily in real-time.
