Electrical Design Engineer - Solar / BESS / PV (Renewable Energy) We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient individual to join our team as a Technical Support Assistant to provide technical support on projects from early-stage origination to operation across a wide range of technologies including solar, battery energy storage, wind, and more. About Us We have been operating in the power section for over 40 years, developing over $5.5 billion of assets across a wide range of conventional and renewable generation. We are a direct affiliate of a world leading infrastructure investment funder. Established to provide the group with enhanced capability in project origination, development, asset management and revenue optimisation. Projects developed or supported by us are intended to be dedicated for future investment by our funder via its managed funds. Our three primary areas of focus are: Utility scale renewables, with a focus on solar and battery storage. Distributed energy solutions and Community Energy Networks. Grid support infrastructure. The team works closely with the investment and asset management teams across the US, UK and Australian power markets. What you will be doing Performing and managing design and technical studies of renewable energy systems throughout the projects development lifecycle from early origination, feasibility studies, system design through to the preparation of technical information required for planning permissions submission. Performing and managing design development activities for projects from the preliminary engineering to detailed design for construction and commercial operation. Liaising with suppliers, manufacturers, to build and maintain pro-active relationships with new and existing suppliers. Collaborating with development and engineering teams to optimise project designs, checking compliance with industry standard and regulations. Supporting with the preparation of works scopes, tenders, schedules, and budgets. Supporting in the preparation of proposals, presentation and other materials required for internal and external meetings, conferences and industry events. Supporting in the co-ordinating and monitoring project and team tasks and deliverables. Supporting in the management and tracking of project milestones, budgets, schedules. Essential Skills & Experience Level 5 or higher technical qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energies, or related field. 2-3 years renewable energy project experience with a strong engineering background (Solar, BESS, Grid) Excellent knowledge of electrical theory, application and technologies for the electricity generation and distribution industry, including safety and environment, Some knowledge of legal obligations and an appreciation of their impact upon reliable operations. Proficient knowledge and experience of UK grid connection requirements up to 33kV. Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret technical data, evaluate project economics, and assess risk factors. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to work across multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficient IT Skills with significate experience in use of: Microsoft Excel, Work, Power Point, Project & Excel Autodesk AutoCAD PVSyst or Similar PVCase or Similar ELEK Design software or Similar Desirable Skills & Experience Additional experience in the use of the following Software packages: Power Factory, PSCAD or Similar QGIS or Autodesk Maps 3D Microsoft Power BI Autodesk Revit or similar BIM modelling software. Note: Training would be offered to the potential candidate who hasn’t have experience in these software packages as part of their wider CPD and career progression within the business.
