Job Title: School Nutrition Equipment Technician Wage/Hour Status: Hourly
Reports to: School Nutrition Lead Technician Pay Grade: 9
Dept./School: School Nutrition Date Revised: 5/10/23
Primary PurposeResponsible for the preventative maintenance, inventory, and repair or installation of kitchen equipment.
QualificationsEducation/Certification:
moderate lifting and carrying; some stooping, bending, and kneeling; frequent exposure to extreme
hot and cold temperatures. The School Nutrition Warehouse is a cold storage facility with temperatures ranging from -19 to 70 degrees.

Primary PurposeResponsible for the preventative maintenance, inventory, and repair or installation of kitchen equipment.
QualificationsEducation/Certification:
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- HVAC certified
- 1-2 years experience in electrical/electronic control systems.
- 1-2 years experience in installing and servicing commercial kitchen equipment.
- Interact and communicate with department and other district personnel to maintain cooperative relationships.
- Ability to obtain forklift certification.
- Valid and current Texas Driver’s License-Class C.
- Working towards Texas Association of School Nutrition Level V Certification.
- On-call 24/7 for emergency needs related to School Nutrition kitchens or equipment.
- Installs, maintains, and monitors new equipment projects.
- Assists with a preventative maintenance schedule for all kitchen equipment.
- Assists with the bi-annual inventory of all kitchen equipment.
- Ability to maintain maintenance records and prepare reports.
- Maintains storage warehouse and service truck with the material necessary to keep kitchens operating properly.
- Willingness to cooperate with and assist maintenance department personnel as needed for kitchen repairs.
- Ability to prioritize and complete work requests in a timely manner. Highly self-motivated.
- Maintains an attitude of mutual respect and courtesy.
- Communicates effectively orally and in writing.
- Reacts positively to constructive criticism and suggestions.
- Works independently or collaboratively with others in a wide variety of circumstances.
- Demonstrates good safety habits and response to emergency situations.
- Exercises sound judgment in decision-making.
- Organizes conflicting work priorities while coordinating multiple projects and deadlines.
- Demonstrates teamwork, flexibility, and ability to adapt to new ideas and situations.
- Performs multiple, highly complex technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
- Possesses computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
