Technical NDT Product Cost Estimator (Hands-on)

Overview

Based in Clover, SC (near Lake Wylie), ECUTEC manufactures for the energy, nuclear and infrastructure segments. We provide Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) calibration standards, testing equipment, Eddy Current probes, machining/EDM services, welding and much more to our customers. Due to growth, ECUTEC seeks a hands-on candidate. An ideal candidate will have a combination of technical aptitude, manual agility and commercial skills to provide quotations to the customer, working closely with the Office Manager, Shop Manager, machinists, and management.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements along with industry specifications, determine the correct product to offer, make or modify a representative sketch and send proposals to customers
• Offer equivalents in terms of sizes, materials or detail configuration
• Procure materials and prepare customer quotations.
• Physically receive materials and place into inventory
• Translate industry standards into executable designs meeting customer needs
• Model components in 3D using Autodesk Inventor and Fusion 360 (optional/will train)
• Hands-on assembly of parts for production, as needed, to meet schedules
• Inspect finished parts and complete inspection certificates (Will train)
• Work on continuous improvement and 5S projects in the office and in the factory
• Work on in-house eddy current and ultrasonic testing
• Improve existing and develop new processes
• Help maitain inventory controls
• Lead R&D initiatives and introduce new product families

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read simple 3D drawings, including converting dimensions from metric to imperial
• Ability to perform some repeatable tasks, with accuracy and speed.
• Ability to quickly work on one-off drawings and quotes.
• Strong math and geometry skills. Ability to create sketch representations of 3d parts
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Customer service aptitude
• Hands on skill to occasionally assemble components or perform simple tasks (drilling, screwing etc.)
• Agile with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to research industry standards and equivalents. (UNS, ASME, ASTM, etc.)
• Ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time while completing fast and accurate deliverables

Optional Skills and Abilities

• Training in nondestructive testing, either through college coursework or on-the-job experience
• Understanding of materials (Copper, Stainless, Titanium, Copper-Nickel, Chrome Moly, etc)
• Understanding of eddy current, remote field, UT, IRIS and NFT testing methods
• Basic AutoCAD, Inventor or 3d modelling
• Work with tubular products or metal processing
• Eddy current or ultrasonic testing of simple parts (optional)
