This is how you will grow:

Manage construction project to final completion; including, preconstruction services, constructability reviews, preparation of bid documents, estimating, budget implementation/analysis, subcontractor management, construction planning, and scheduling. Experience with large manufacturing facilities needed.

General Duties:

  • Supervise preconstruction and construction projects.
  • Manage corporate resource allocation for preconstruction and operation teams.
  • Conduct design coordination meeting with owner, designers, design assist subcontractors and project team.
  • Manage/oversee contractors.
  • Perform value engineering and constructability reviews of design documents during design and pre-construction to determine the most cost effective and schedule efficient method of construction.
  • Create and monitor risk management plan.

Preconstruction Duties:

  • Initiate and maintain liaison with client and A/E contacts to facilitate successful preconstruction process.
  • Identify and qualify new material suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with team members and trade partners supply chain management.
  • Manage preconstruction process including designers, estimators, and other stakeholders.
  • Keep current on changes and trends in methods of construction and materials, construction costs, wage rates, fringes and working rules.
  • Provide monthly cost analysis for all active preconstruction assignments and manage preconstruction department budgets.
  • Coordinate and ensure that a preliminary construction schedule has been developed for each estimate.
  • Review prime contacts and lead the negotiations with legal counsel, owners and their legal counsel.
  • Review subcontracts and major purchase orders prior to issuance to subcontractor.
  • Maintain subcontractor evaluations utilizing the financial, safety and risk review process.
  • Assure potential risk factors have been evaluated and reviewed for prime contracts including legal, environmental, geotechnical, technical, municipal requirements.
  • Plan and lead the preconstruction strategy meetings on the approach to the project or estimate.

Construction (Operations) Duties:

  • Direct and lead construction projects from inception to completion in different construction phases (Preconstruction, Construction and Closeout phases).
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with the owners, end users, trade partners and other stakeholders.
  • Plan and execute the assigned contracts, including the ability to monitor and verify the progress of each contract in terms of schedule, cost and quality.
  • Proactively identify and solve problems to minimize risk.

Requirements

  • 5 plus years in a similar Construction manager role
  • Experience with large manufacturing facilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • Thorough understanding of industry practices, processes, standards, etc.
  • Proficient in construction budgeting and cost tracking
  • Solid numerical and analytical skills
  • History of safe, successful, and timely project completion
  • Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Project
