The STEM and Workforce Success Portfolio within the US Divison at EDC has an opening for a Casual Research Assistant II reporting to the Senior Research Scientist.
The US Division of EDC partners with school districts, state/local departments of health and education, industries, and nonprofits to improve health, education, and economic outcomes for millions of individuals, particularly those living in marginalized, high-risk, and underserved communities.
The Casual Research Assistant II will work with The Preparation for Persistence project. The project aims to research how Noyce funded programs prepare science and mathematics teachers for high-needs schools and examine the relationship between this preparation and teachers' long-term persistence in these schools beyond their service requirement. This study addresses critical issues in teacher supply, retention, and the effectiveness of preparation programs in high-needs, urban, and rural schools, aiming to improve training strategies to support teachers' commitment and efficacy in these challenging environments.
EDC casual employees generally work as needed. A casual position receives statutory benefits of Social Security contributions, Medicare contributions, unemployment insurance, worker’s compensation insurance and sick leave. A casual position ends when work is complete.
You will:
  • Manage large data sets (i.e., clean, merge, and catalog data records and large data sets)
  • Carry out analysis of qualitative data, in consultation with project leaders
  • Contribute to the preparation of recommendations based on research findings
  • Prepare written materials, including annual/final reports, papers, and blog posts
  • Disseminate findings
  • Contribute to the development of visual content, including data visualizations and Power Point presentations
  • Plan and support facilitation in online/virtual events, including the management of timelines and coordination with tech staff
  • Communicate with external partners and assist with quality assurance
QualificationsEducation:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, or related field
Skills & Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in Education, Mathematics, Science, or related field
  • Experience collecting, organizing, and analyzing qualitative data
  • Well-versed in collaborating with a diverse set of colleagues and partners
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience providing quality assurance for collected data

This position offers an anticipated base hourly range of approximately $35 to $40. Salary offers are made based on market analysis and internal equity.
