Edinburg Independent School District is Hiring a Gate Operator Technician Near Edinburg, TX

REPORTS TO: Locksmith/Access Control Foreman DATE REVISED: October 18, 2021

LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 261 days PAY GRADE: Hourly

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt SALARY RANGE: $18.88 Min $26.90 Max

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Gate Operator Technician is responsible for the maintenance and operation of all gate systems in the district. The technician will also assist the locksmith and access control department with doors, hardware, repair, install and maintain commercial gates. Conduct preventative maintenance on gates. Troubleshoot and repair light mechanical issues that may include gate motors, electrical systems, operator components and telephone entry system. Must have verifiable previous work experience with installing automatic gate machines, gate openers, photo eye, safety and exit loops.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Graduate or GED required
At least three years’ experience with electric gates
Able to read blueprints and schematics
Dependable and cooperative.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Repair and install all make and models of gate operators, telephone entry systems, card readers, keypads, gate hardware and access control.
• Knowledgeable and able to trench, pull wire, saw cut asphalt and concrete, mix concrete, dig holes, weld, install angle iron and gate tracks.
• Ability to program card readers, gate openers and keypads.
• Work with low voltage, 110 volt and 220-volt circuits, and wiring electrical circuit boards.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose failed equipment.
• Responsible for successfully completing all work orders and submit to office staff in a timely manner.
• Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
• Perform other relate duties as assigned.

• Electric power tools, district vehicle, aerial lift, trenching machines

WORKING CONDITION:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
• Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying.
• Work outside and inside, exposure to extreme weather conditions; working on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; working on ladders and scaffolding
• Subject to be called to work late, after hours and weekends, when required.
