POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Bachelors Degree in Special Education with focus on Deaf and Hard of Hearing; Deaf Education or closely related field

Experience

• One year teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students

Other Requirements

• Must posses or have the ability to possess a valid Arizona Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Holds a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Special Education or Deaf Education
• Knowledge in Sign Language and use of amplification devices for the deaf-hard-of-hearing
• ASL certification

Preferred Requirements

• Master’s degree in Special Education or Deaf Education
• Three or more years of teaching DHH students

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

• Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
• Provide instruction using appropriate methods, such as sign language orla communication and assistive technology.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents, and other professionals to support the academic and social emotional development of students.
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed to ensure student success.
• Create supportive and inclusive environment that promotes learning and growth requirements.
• Instructs in academics subjects of regular curriculum to meet needs of student population
• Prepares lessons that accommodate learning styles.
• Conducts assessments of student progress and achievement.
• Assisting student growth in both American Sign Language and Written English.
• Current with different instructional strategies to teach DHH students
• Participates in IEP meetings with parents, teachers, students and other Edkey inc. staff.
• Follow Edkey Inc. policies and procedures.

Working Conditions

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, crouch, bend, walking up and down stairs/ramps, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
