Bachelor's degree in special education with focus on Deaf and Hard of Hearing; Deaf Education or closely related field
Experience
One year teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
Other Requirements
Must posses or have the ability to possess a valid Arizona Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Holds a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Special Education or Deaf Education
Knowledge in Sign Language and use of amplification devices for the deaf-hard-of-hearing
ASL certification
Preferred Requirements
Master's degree in Special Education or Deaf Education
Three or more years of teaching DHH students
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS
Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Provide instruction using appropriate methods, such as sign language orla communication and assistive technology.
Collaborate with school staff, parents, and other professionals to support the academic and social emotional development of students.
Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed to ensure student success.
Create supportive and inclusive environment that promotes learning and growth requirements.
Instructs in academics subjects of regular curriculum to meet needs of student population
Prepares lessons that accommodate learning styles.
Conducts assessments of student progress and achievement.
Assisting student growth in both American Sign Language and Written English.
Current with different instructional strategies to teach DHH students
Participates in IEP meetings with parents, teachers, students and other Edkey inc. staff.
Follow Edkey Inc. policies and procedures
Working Conditions Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, crouch, bend, walking up and down stairs/ramps, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
